They tend to shrink as well, so I would size up.

@Mamasig: The looser ones do seem a lot more comfortable. I'll find the receipt and do a switch tomorrow. He's a lot happier in his new pjs than getting him into the sleepers that he's no longer fond of.

Last winter I did but I had to buy a size larger than the looser fitting pjs. So this winter I'll probably buy 4T or maybe even 5T. He is on the wider side so I have to make sure they fit his shoulders. Honestly, the looser style seems more comfortable to me.

@Mamasig: Ohh, that's good to know. It's been awhile since I've bought Carter's pjs, so I forgot how their sizing worked. I just want to make sure that we have enough pjs for him. Do you do long sleeve cotton ones in the winter? With the sleepers, we did fleece ones. I'm trying to figure out the winter equivalent with pjs.

I would get the 3T. You'll get more wear out of them. My son is around 33 pounds and in 3T. They fit perfect though the pants had to be hemmed.

LO started wearing pjs this weekend. No more zip up sleepers for this guy. I bought some Carter's 2T pjs at Target yesterday. They aren't the super tight kind. The pairs I picked up months ago were light and roomy. I noticed that the weight size said up to 31 lbs. LO's currently at 29 lbs. Should I return the 2Ts for 3Ts? Will the 2Ts last us through the rest of the summer into fall? What's the fit like for your LO?
