No advice for the screaming :( but I am so sorry!

In regards to the napping, my LO started to have trouble with naps around that age also. She just needed to drop down to 1 nap a day.

He probably likes that he's getting a reaction out of you, and continues screaming to see how your reaction will change. I would acknowledge him ("you are screaming loudly! You like the way your voice sounds!") and then explain why he can't do that anymore ("Screaming inside like that bothers me. I won't let you scream inside. If you continue screaming, I will leave the room"). Hopefully a consistent reaction will curb the appeal!

Not sure if it's age appropriate, since my kids are older, but I have been telling them that if they want to have that kind of reaction (screaming, tantruming, etc.) it needs to be somewhere away from everyone else. I've sent them to their rooms, into the bathroom, etc. For a 14 month old, I might just silently place them in their (empty) crib and walk away until the screaming stops. Seems to me they'd (hopefully) get bored with this pretty quickly! HOPEFULLY!

Hi ladies!
Happy almost Thanksgiving :)

Our 14 month old has just started a new screaming phase that is almost unbearable. For the last couple weeks he will let out a shrill scream to get our attention, when he wants something or when he doesn't like something... etc. etc.
We have tried saying "No!" sternly and ignoring him but neither of those seem to work.

Did any of you go through this? If so what did you do?
Is it just a phase?

Also, naps have just started to be a total nightmare. He was doing just fine and now it's a complete struggle to get him to lay down for one.
