@Mrs Green Grass: Oooh, I love this! Is it a good length? I'm 5'7" and like this to hit at least at the hip or lower.

I don't have any specifics, but I've found that Ann Taylor Loft is super mom friendly. Everything seems to be cut rather generously and everything I've gotten recently has all been washable.

I think this one is really cute and they have it in solids and a few prints. I want to get it in white, but the closest they currently have is ivory.

I have a couple of the NYDJ Henley blouses that I really like. They have both solids and a bunch of prints and are good with both jeans and work attire. They wash great too. Nordstrom always has a variety and you can also find some for half the price at Nordstrom Rack.

I am wearing this as we speak for the 3rd time in the last week. I've worn it to work and out at night. It's polyester in the front and cotton in the back. Forgiving and comfy.

@JerricaBenton: ugh...I know...I am still on the hunt for the perfect one! Banana used to have button ups (more work style) that had an extra 2 inches in the bust only...it was amazing! And then somewhere used to have shirts with like 3 or 4 buttons right at the cleavage...they were great too...now I cant find either!

@Mrs D: it's all about the placement of the buttons! It's different everyone but there has to be a button in the middle of your cleavage, not one above and one below. You just have to try on a bunch of brands to find the right one!

I actually really liked the selection at Banana Republic Outlet -- a fraction of the cost of the regular store, and lots of good options. I'm pregnant now, so haven't shopped there in awhile, but that's my go-to for cute tops.

@Littlebit7: Yes to the popover tops, I find them all over the place, particularly Talbots, Lands End, Boden, JCrew.

I prefer patterns on a darker base, the smaller the better.

I also like the traditional tunic style tops, they're sometimes called kurtas. I've amassed quite a collection over the years and I love them because they're longer and don't need to be tucked in.

@JerricaBenton: I LOVE button downs....love love love...unfortunately I am well endowed and have yet to find button downs that fit my chest while having any short of shape to them...

I am all ears if anyone has recommendations...

I finally found a white linen half button down that works...but it took years of looking...

I'm admittedly a prep, but my favorite tops are button downs. Add a sweater or a scarf, jewelry and you're put-together. Perfect with jeans, nicer leggings. Perfect for nursing. Comfy enough for hanging around the house but you're not embarrassed if someone comes to the door lol.

@Mrs D: I generally stopped shopping there as well! These types of tops are really the only things i buy there now, as well as DH's work dress shirts. Their styles and fabrics took a downhill turn (and just plain weird). Every now and then they have something that is interesting but they've been off of my radar for quite some time.
Anthro also makes a lot of tunic-y tops but sometimes they have fussy details which are NOT kid friendly.

@Littlebit7: Cute...I agree...I like versatile pieces...we rarely go to extremely fancy places on date night...so ideally many of these cute casual mom friendly tops would also double as date night tops when paired with skinny jeans, the right shoes and accessories!

I stopped shopping at Banana a few years back but will need to add them back to my list of places to scope out!

I'm really drawn to blousy (polyester) tunic styles. Banana has made a few in the past (but of course now when I go to look they only have one!). I can wash and even dry them which is a MUST in my household. I can't attest to these particular pieces, but last year I bought 4 or 5 from banana and they have held up great. they also can be throw in a travel bag and don't wrinkle.

I'm t-shirt and jeans girl too. I like these because they can dress up with a pair of dark denim or black leggings, OR be casual with faded or destroyed denim or shorts

So - I've posted on some other threads with regard to my upcoming Capsule Wardrobe plan...(as soon as this baby comes out and I trim back down a bit)...

I have been doing a lot of pinteresting (lots more to come in those awesome early nursing days)...and have come to realize that I really am a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal. I definitely like to spice it up every once in a while but after work week nights and weekend days (i.e. the majority of the time I will be in my casual capsule) I am really drawn to jeans and a simple top.

So here's the thing...I'm giving myself 3 plain cotton t's outside the capsule count...I really only plan to have another handful within the capsule count.

So...where do you get comfortable, casual but cute mom friendly tops? Mom friendly to me means washable and not too "snag" likely? (I had stitch fix send me a shirt that was adorable but had a detailed lace backing I could just see DD snagging the crap out of...) It also means a cut that is conducive to the joys of chasing a toddler and soon to be newborn around?

Trying to branch out here a bit!!!
