Our cat has been great with LO. It's as if she recognises that LO is a baby and she needs to be gentle.

Prior to the birth the cat snuck into the cot. She hasn't since LO came home, it's like she knows she isn't allowed.

I was worried about her with LO but it has all been fine. She is allowed in LO's room and has been fine.

We have a cat and are a little nervous because our cat is NOT friendly (she’s great with my husband and I but HATES everyone else, and will bite people hard on purpose if she doesn’t like them, or if they try to touch her). I don’t know if there is much we can do ahead of time, but we plan to have my husband bring a blanket with LO’s scent on it to her to smell and have while I’m in the hospital after giving birth. I also make sure to give her as much attention as I did before I was pregnant, so she doesn’t feel jealous – and will do that after LO is born too.

Our cat is very curious, and wants to explore and sleep on anything new we bring into the house – does yours? That might explain why the cat wants to be in the crib – because it’s a new fun place to hide and sleep.

I’m not so nervous about the newborn stage, and we plan to let kitty sniff and interact with baby (under supervision), but I am nervous about the grabby-hands stage and beyond.

We are planning on booby-trapping the crib with a scat mat once we set it up, so the cat never gets in the habit of getting into it. We also have one of these mesh crab tents, that we can put up to keep the cat out if the scat mat training fails for some reason.

I'm not pregnant yet, but I'm really nervous about this too, so I'll be checking back for answers. My cat is insanely hyper and he's really curious. I thought he would outgrow the kitten stage (he's almost 2) but I guess not yet.

I'm due in April, and I've recently started having some anxiety about our cat. He's a very friendly cat, but he's so curious and nibby, and I'm just worried about him hurting the baby. He's also sneaky and likes to jet into a room as you're closing the door so quickly you never even see him! We leave the nursery door open when we are home so that the cat and the dog can both explore the room and can become comfortable with it. (More for the dog than the cat) I've caught the cat sleeping in the crib a couple of times and needless to say it freaks me out! I've started keeping the door closed unless I'm in the room with them while they're checking it out so I can keep him out of the crib, but it's always the first place he wants to go! I squirt him with water when I catch him in there, and we plan to keep the nursery door closed whenever the baby is in there napping, but it still makes me nervous. Any other cat owners out there that feel a little nervous? And what are you doing to help ease your anxiety?
