@jhd: so good to hear that your LOs surgery went well and they you had a good team of doctors! I think they have found a good team too that will be doing the surgery at a different hospital than they delivered at, because they were able to find an pediatric eye surgeon.
Thanks for your prayers and well wishes I will definitely pass them on!

@Reese: I know right! It's like, come on NICU docs, you should be the ones must sensitive to giving out this type of info!

@HTownMom: Ugh, what an asshat of a doctor! I'm sure the last think they needed to hear. It's nice that they have supportive friends and family around them

@HTownMom: oh this sounds so tough. My DH has had lots of eye surgeries, but in his 20s not as a baby. He has IOLs and had to have a cataract removed a few years ago and another lens put in. I don't know anything about the procedures for babies, but I do know that there is amazing technology out there!

I'm so upset for this family that the NICU doctor had such a bad bedside manner. There is nothing more scary than hearing that something is wrong with your tiny baby. :crying:

Our LO had surgery on his jaw at a month old. It was scary but the team that worked on him were so wonderful. I will be thinking of them & praying they get awesome doctors and nurses.

@Reese: thank you so much! Super scary, and from what my cousin told me the NICU doctor on call that day for delivery had the worst bed side manner ever and was just throwing out terms and worst case scenario's after she just gave birth!

No experience but wow, I can't imagine what the parents must be going through. How frightening. Keeping them all in my thoughts.

My cousin just gave birth at the beginning of April and they found out their son has cataracts in both eyes!! His eyes look slightly cloudy and they have been going to doctors appts every day.

They have to get surgery for LO at 5 weeks to remove the lenses in both eyes, which sounds so scary. Further, they will have to put in special baby contacts for him so that he will have to best chance at seeing fully.

Does anyone have any experience with this for their LO or for yourself or SO? I'm just hoping to pass on some success stories to them and take the pressure and worry of surgery and unknown sight future away a bit?

Thanks!
