Yep, cat napped unless I held her for two hours...which is great and doable if you only have one child...

Got better at 6 months when she started doing two naps a day. Then got bad again before we did one nap around 11 months. But she jut doesn't take long naps and never really has except for the newborn being held naps.

My kiddo has never been a great napper. She started cat napping at around 4 weeks, and didn't stop until around 14 months, at which point she finally started taking one solid nap, at least most days. She's an awesome night sleeper and a crap day sleeper. Her low point was around 5-7 months, she would nap for an average of 45 minutes a day total, broken up into 10 or 15 minute chunks. It was bad.

YES, A catnapped if he was in the crib but would sleep forever if i wore him in the Ergo or pushed him in the stroller. He slept well for the first 2.5 months but then would just catnap. He couldn't sleep longer than 45 minutes! I tried to sleep train him at 4 months (fail), 6 months (fail) and finally at 8 months i was able to nap train him.

P is three weeks old today and starting this. If I put her down she will nap for 30 mins no more. If I hold her she will sleep longer. I hate cat naps!

@sandy: As they get older, their awake time gets longer, so their routine becomes a little more predictable, even if the catnap length isn't.

Ever since he turned 6 weeks he has gone from doing 2 hour naps to 45-60 minute naps. He's 9 weeks today and he's still basically taking catnaps all day and it's rare that I can settle him back to extend the nap. I don't remember my oldest taking so many cat naps. Rarely he'll do a long nap here and there. He's able to put himself down for his naps but for some reason he can't get through that first sleep cycle. It's frustrating bc he's clearly still tired and it leads to a super short awake time and then another cat nap and repeat all day. Fortunately he does do long stretches of sleep at night (probably bc he's so tired from catnapping all day!)

So I'm wondering: Did your LO catnap? Did he/she eventually grow out of it? When did he/she start taking longer naps again?
