We loved it! I had bought my own diaper covers...my recommendation would be to have about 6-8. You can buy more of course but that amount should be ok. We washed our covers at home. We also used disposables for the first 3-4 weeks as my hubby liked seeing the blue line lol. We now use os pockets and prefold mix. We could choose between prefolds, fitteds (more expensive) or a mix of both. The service came by once a week to pick up all the soiled diapers and drop off fresh ones. </p> <p>We started out with half prefolds/half fitteds and quickly discovered that we were terrible at the prefolds, especially with LO screaming and squirming at each diaper change. We also didn't have an incentive to get better at the origami folds because we'd be switching to one-size pocket diapers after the two months anyway. </p> <p>Having the service for the first two months was wonderful because we didn't have to worry about diaper laundry - both the sheer volume of it and the early tarry poos - while getting used to everything else newborn-related. </p> <p>If anyone lives in the Chicago area and wants the contact information for the service we used, let me know! She loves it and really enjoys using prefolds and covers. One of the things she likes most about the diaper service is not having to do as much washing and folding. The covers are more low maintenance. She also never has to worry about staining although a little sun takes that right out :).</p> <p>We used NB sposies until DS's umbilical stump fell off at 3 weeks and switched to pocket diapers. We did try fitteds with a pul and/or wool cover overnight at one point. I must say I was not a fan. They were so bulky an the covers rubbed on his CPR stump( even with the cut out). As part of her gift to us, she offered us 2 months of a diaper service, and then our choice of buying us the OS Bumgenius diapers that we love, continuing the diaper service, or buying us a ton of disposables. </p> <p>All my friends who CD used disposables when they first got home, so I have no real reference for how the service works. If you had/have one can you tell me what you like about it? Anything you don't like? Any general advice for a ftm trying to figure out the prefolds and covers thing? </p>
