We have been using them for 18 months and I have not gotten sick of the extra laundry at all! For me, I didn't buy a specific kind at the beginning because I didn't know what I would like or what would work for our LO. I bought about 10 different brands and went from there. The best thing I can tell you is that it's SUPER intimidating reading about CDing online and makes it sound like it is hard, but it is SO easy once you get into the groove.

I love them!
I'd try a few different kinds to see what you like - the resale value is pretty good. As for convincing your husband, my husband was skeptical til he saw how easy they are, realized how much money we were saving, and dealt with a disposable blowout. We have NEVER had a blowout in cloth! They are super easy for us to wash and maintain. Not a big deal at all :)

Yay! Well, here's my experience: I bought tons of prefolds and six covers, as well as 10 BumGenius AIO diapers. My baby hated the prefolds and I hated how bulky the BG's were. I ended up using gDiapers, which is a sized system that uses either disposable or cloth inserts. For me, they are closer to the trimness of a disposable (which I prefer aesthetically) and I find that I prefer a cover/insert setup. I also use my Thirsties Duo Wrap covers with inserts.

I was able to sell all of my BG for a decent price and use that money to feed my gDiaper addiction. The prefolds: I kept all my size smalls to use as burp cloths and sent my newborn stash to a friend who is interested in cloth.

I'm interested in using CDs with our future LO, but don't know much about them. DH is open to having a conversation but not super keen on the idea. I'll be a WOHM and LO will be attending daycare (not sure if it'll be our family, a nanny-share, an in-home, a facility or what). From my preliminary research I like the money saving (especially for 2+ LOs) and the environmental factor (we'd be washing our own at home).

Tell me more about CDs! What are the basics I need to know? What can I tell DH to get him on board?
