we never had any pee leaks but I wasnt sure if I was doing it tight enough, but we waited until LO was about 3.5 weeks before we started using cloth

@MusicaV: The applecheeks do look huge, but they worked the best for us for a long time. I will actually probably get rid of my NB Grovia before next baby because they didn't work well. For our next baby I am going to CD from the time we come home, and I am going to use mostly FB perfect size small I think, my girlfriend is super happy with hers.

@MsMini: So sad, my Grovias are so cute! I have a few Applecheeks size 1. They look huge on him, but the first pee diaper didn't leak!

We started CD around 3 months but even then I found LO went through stages where some diapers worked better than others. I found prefolds were great at first. The AIOs worked better when baby got bigger (legs fatter, I suppose). Now all I use is AIO (mostly because she's so wiggly and I have to be quick!)

I didn't start CD until C was older, so I never had this issue. Maybe switch to sposies for a couple weeks and then come back when he's chubbed up a little?

Sposies do NOT automatically mean you get poo up the back. They only do that if the sizing is bad.

We had tons of pee leaks in the beginning (we started cloth at about the same time as you). Those skinny newborn legs will get you every time. I finally figured out the fit in fuzzibunz and size 1 apple cheeks after about a week, and within a month or so, all but the grovias fit awesome. It took FOREVER to stop leaking our the legs in grovia diapers.

@ohapostrophe: LOL, I'll ask DH in the morning if he would rather have poop or pee leaks... even though I'm the one doing the laundry.

@MusicaV: that is little! maybe you can swing the fit--it just depends on body type. i think @ohapostrophe has some good ideas.

we tried them every 2-3 weeks until 12 weeks and just had major pee leaks, like every diaper required a complete outfit change, so it was not worth it. i only have BGs but I think some of them can adjust the leg openings?

it sounds like your detergent is good so you are covered there. you may have more luck in a week or two?

It's the skinny legs. We had some pee leaks off and on for the first month or so. Try wool shorts over the diapers. Or just go back to disposables and enjoy a poop up the back...you'll switch right back ;)

@MamaCate: He's 11 days old. He has skinny legs too, and I'm really hoping we can find the right fit instead of wasting all of these cloth diapers. I thought about the repelling issue too. I'm using ecos detergent, which is supposed to be CD friendly.

How old is your LO? We tried to start newborn diapers from a friend but we had a leak with every diaper and it just seemed like LO's little legs were too skinny, regardless of how we played with the fit, until about 12 weeks. At that point she had filled out a little and we were able to work with the BG4.0s (our whole stash) on the smallest rise and with two snaps visible in front.

The other thing to consider is if the detergent you use or anything else you used may be causing the diapers to repel which is then causing the leaks...just a thought...

We started CDing on Friday. We haven't had any poop issues, but we have lots of pee leaks. We have a lot of different brands of NB - Swaddlebees, Lil Joey, Grovia, prefolds, bumgenius. We've had at least one leak with each. DH is getting frustrated. I'm sure there's hope that we'll get it right - right?
