But we just replaced the whole stash because we wrecked the PUL on the old ones from using too much bleach so I am trying to avoid laying out more money right now. Because we live in a hot dry place it never occurred to me to not hang them outside. I had one or two inserts come out stained once (I think it was blueberries?) but they were gone by the next wash. Then I start the second wash an hour later right before dinner. I hang them to dry and dry the inserts in the dryer right before bed, and then stuff them while the kids eat breakfast. We only have enough for 2 days and this is the only thing that works for us. I would throw the 2 bags (Monday and Tuesday's diapers) in the wash as soon as we got home Tuesday evening. Switch them over to dry/hang before we went to bed. Same thing Thursday with the diapers from Wednesday and Thursday. I just tried to make sure I had 2 full days clean by Sunday night.</p> <p>With 18 diapers you should be able to do a 3 times per week schedule? How many diapers per day do you use? We used 5 at daycare and then 1 or 2 at home (sometimes disposable at night). I start the pre-wash in the evening after putting LO down. I clean up a little until it's time to start the main wash. Then it's usually perfect timing to transfer to the dryer before bed. Our machines are on the first level and bedrooms on the second, so the sound doesn't bother us. With my first baby we had 27 diapers and washed twice a week (wed/sun). </p> <p>I only have 18 diapers this time and I was hoping for 3x/week (Tuesday/Friday/Sunday). But it looks like we need to do every other day for now.</p> <p>I wash in the morning before work and hang on the clothesline. It seems daunting to do that 2-3x/work week for the next two years.</p> <p>When do you wash: time of day and how often? </p>
