his 30th was last weekend--I surprised him by inviting 6 of his best friends who live out of town to come in for it. we had dinner and then went to a bar, where more of our local friends met up with us, and then in the morning I made brunch for the out of towners. he sort of knew one of the guys was coming, but I caught him off guard with the other 5 ;) I bought him tickets to a show a couple months ago as his bday present, so he didn't get another gift, but seriously, it was a lot of work to get all his friends here and make all those reservations (dinner for 9, private area of the bar for like 20)! getting all his friends lined up was like herding cats--some of these guys are like luddites afraid of email, sheesh!

Our birthdays are 16 days apart. So we usually just go to a really nice dinner on the Saturday between our birthdays. And then we each give each other one nice present on the actual birthday. Neither of us are into super huge celebrations. Although we may do a party or something in 2014 since we'll both be turning 30.

I took him to Vegas one year, threw him a 30th party last year, and took him to the Lions' first MNF game in years.. but usually it's just dinner out with presents :)

This year - we decided to keep it simple for both our birthdays and do a nice dinner out!

@chopsuey119: Are they looking to adopt? I'm available. Lol. that is pretty nice of them.
@Alivoo01: I guess the reason that I feel a little bad is that this is 25, the last milestone before 30.
Thanks ladies.

I usually make his favorite dinner or we go to his favorite restaurant, give him a gift, and that's it. This year we will have a 3 week old, but I already bought him his present (season basketball ticket to our college team) so a card from baby and mommy is all he's getting!

Normally, I just do a dinner get together with friends and they can go out afterwards to do what they want.

This year, my hubby is turning the big 3-0 and I'm planning something BIG for him. He's totally freaking out so I'm hoping this will help him remember that it's okay.

Our birthdays are really close together so that makes it a little different. Usually for his birthday, we do a nice dinner at home with his brother and SIL and I make dinner and his favorite cake, plus presents. Then my birthday, same week, we go out to dinner and have leftover cake at home. We haven't had a big birthday party in a while. We are old and lame. :)

What do you do to celebrate your So's birthday? Hubs' is tomorrow, so he's going down to see his parents tonight and will stay with them the next 2 nights. I'll join him tomorrow after work. I bought him a few presents and am thinking about picking up cupcakes or something for work (we work at the same company, our co-workers would love it). Last year I did a pretty good sized party and feel bad that I'm not doing more for him this year. Oh well.

How do you celebrate your SO's birthday?
