@mrbee: he would never use it!

@LemonLong: oh, that sounds perfect based know reviews! I'll have to ask my brother if there's anyway he can put it on my plan.

@spaniellove: I also don't think he would want to pay for a smartphone like a iPhone.

@earinej: thanks!! And yup, he always puts them on full volume on speaker and he can still barely hear. It's hearing loss.

@locavore_mama: Hi! I'm an audiologist! I don't have any specific phones to recommend to you (other than for hearing aid compatibility) but will tell you most of my patients that struggle on the cellphone because of reduced output end up using speaker phone. Typical cellphones don't go loud enough because of the risk of damaging hearing inadvertently. Also, depending on the type of hearing loss (loss of volume vs loss of speech clarity), the increased volume may or may not help. Good luck!

I know you mentioned not requiring a data plan, but I think some carriers (like AT&T?) allow you to do data-only if you can show documentation showing that you have a hearing disability. There is also the option of a relay service.

Sorry this doesn't quite answer your question in the way you asked! Just giving some suggestions that have worked for people I know who (like me) have auditory processing issues.

Does anyone have experience with a cell phone that has a high receiver volume and does not require a data plan?

I'm less concerned about hearing aid compatibility. More about FIL being able to hear when he's on the phone. So far he's been using free flip phones and it's not cutting it.

Looking for user recommendations! So anyone else's parents or ILs have hearing issues?
