I got cervadil with my first. My water broke, but I was “maybe a fingertip” dialated, so that’s what they used to get thing started. It made me have immediate back to back contractions, and they had to remove it pretty quickly. I guess it worked though, I didn’t need pitocin that time.

Cervidril didn't do much for me for either of my inductions. I had to have foley bulb inserted both times.

Induced at 39 weeks due to GD. I was at nothing at all. Took 2 rounds, started at 1am and probably another at 8-9am. Was dilated enough to get epidural/pitocin after noon.

I was induced with my first at 37w+1. I was given Cervidil at 2pm, Pitocin sometime the next morning, and baby was born at 12:13pm. I don't recall how dilated or effaced I was, but I'm assuming not much if anything since I was just barely in early term territory. It took a few hours for contractions to pick up steam after getting the Cervidil, and I ended up getting some Nubain to help me sleep that night (well as much as I could sleep when nurses were always coming in to adjust the monitors) b/c I didn't want to get an epidural too soon. There can be some concern with taking Nubain too close to delivery b/c it can affect the baby, but I'd been told to expect ~24 hours from the start of the induction so I was comfortable with the amount of time it'd have to get out of my system. My water broke on its own right before I got the epidural (a few hours after starting Pitocin). I don't remember how long I had to push, but I believe it was relatively quick for a first baby.

Good luck tonight!!

Hi ladies! I’m going in tomorrow night to have a dose of Cervidril. I’ll be staying overnight and getting Pitocin in the morning on Saturday. I was induced with my first, but was already 3-4 cm dilated and 50% effaced. So, I didn’t need Cervidril. This time, I’m only 2cm and not effaced. I’ll be 39w 3d tomorrow.

Anyway, please tell me about your experience with Cervidril. Thank you!
