my son had really bad eczema and we tried a ton of things. i highly recommend either using using diluted sensitive/fragrance free dove soap for this bath water and cetaphil lotion for moisturizing afterwards.

We've also used cetaphil face wash in lieu of dove soap for bath time for both hair and body and that's worked well too.

I've never used anything but the Cetaphil body wash on LO. I don't use a separate shampoo, I just get soap in his hair :)
Seems fine.

@pointybird: I've tried it both ways, every day washing and a few times a week. Less frequent washing seems to have helped her scalp. We also use the Cetaphil lotion. They have a special one for eczema. I think it is called Restoraderm (?). We took DD to the dermatologist for her eczema and this is the one that they recommended. She still has flare ups but her skin does seem to be better after we started her on that lotion.

@Andrea: My LO also has a little bit of cradle cap and I've read conflicting info about hair washing - some say to do it more frequently to get rid of it, others say not to wash too often because it dries out the skin! I think we'll just stick with washing every few days like've been doing.

@pelikila: I will have to try the Cetaphil lotion. I don't know too much about eczema. Does moisturizing help? My husband uses a medicated cream, but I know that's not appropriate for a baby and her eczema is not terrible. I wasn't sure if a regular moisturizer would help.

We were having eczema problems and I love Cetaphil. Because i use dove already, we ended up switching to dove shampoo and conditioner and dove body wash and have seen dramatic improvement. We still lotion him up with cetaphil moisturizing cream every night and have since birth.

I used Cetaphil on DD's head for quite a while because of her eczema. Her eczema started to get better so then I switched to Burt's Bees. I only wash her hair twice a week as to not dry out her scalp, though.

My husband has eczema and my LO seems to have it as well on th insides of her arms, especially around her elbows. I'm going to switch to Cetaphil for her body wash since we have some at home already, but I'm wondering what to do about shampoo. If you use Cetaphil, do you use a separate baby shampoo? She doesn't have much hair, so I'm wondering if I could just use Cetaphil on her head. Is that weird?

We've been using Burt's Bees and I really started to like the way it smelled. I'm going to miss that baby smell!
