When I had my appointment at 23 weeks, the doctor told me it was normal to feel sporadic movement and that I shouldn't worry about daily movement until 28 weeks or so. But glad you felt nudges!

A little update - I have felt a few little nudges over the past few hours (which is consistent with how he is during the day, when I'm at work). I wish I could lay down to see if he will move more but I don't have a couch in my office : )

I think it was normal for me to feel less strong movements for period of time but it was positioning. Movement is movement.

I agree with drinking some juice and lay down.

i think it's normal not to feel active movement in the beginning. that's how it was for me. some days, i swear i wouldn't feel them at all. i don't think they expect you to do fetal counts until 28 weeks or so. i don't think it was until like 26 weeks that i felt them regularly.

Whenever I got worried I'd drink OJ or eat something sugary and lay down for a while. That usually got lo to start moving.

I think its normal for there to be changes in fetal movement. especially from week 19-23. At 22 weeks I used to always feel the baby kicking me in the morning around 8.30 like clock work every morning. THen suddenly she was real quiet all day and would only kick me if i pressed my belly or lay on my side for a long time. I was worried about this but then after a few days she changed routine and kicks way more at night and is real quiet in the morning. Right now I'm 28 weeks and she kicks whenever she feels like some days way more than others.

Call. Their job is to field your questions. Don't worry, I think they're compensated pretty fairly for it. Trust me, it is much better to be the annoying patient asking too many questions than not have something checked out and regret it later. Probably normal, but call!

@winniebee: lol I'm sure there are FAR worse patients than you. Honestly, I'm not a worrier, so I don't call all that often. I had a moment yesterday though where I started thinking about it and decided to call. If your nurses at the OB's office are super nice, I wouldn't worry about calling.
ETA: Well, you should never worry about calling in general, but I get how you could feel like you are the PITA patient. No one wants to be that patient!

@LivsMama: It's reassuring to think I'm not a crazy person! I guess I'm just wondering if it's still too early to worry about changes. This sounds terrible, but I don't want to spend my day at the OB's office for no reason!

@mediagirl: This makes me feel better.

@Goldilocks1107: My OB said the same thing about definite patterns by 24-26 weeks.

I think I'm going to give it until lunchtime and if I haven't felt him more then call the OB. They probably have a note in my file that I'm a PITA patient (Pain In The A**). And here I thought that fetal movement would make me MORE relaxed!

I have the same thing, and am not worried. At my last appointment, my OB said I'd start to feel more consistent movement in the next month (so by 24 weeks). Some days she likes to get her groove on in the morning, some at nights and sometimes I only feel light pokes. On the light days, I just assume she's punching the hell out of my anterior placenta so I can't feel it.
But, I am going to ask about movement in general at my appointment next week.

I've heard that this is completely normal. I think it's when we get further along that they ask you do kick counts in an hour to make sure he or she is still kicking away in there.

Why do I say it's completely normal? Totally called my OB yesterday because I felt her this weekend and then didn't feel her all day yesterday. Just keep waiting - you'll feel him again soon, I'm sure!

Call your doctor. My OB told me that the one thing to ALWAYS call about when you are concerned is reduced fetal movement. I went in 3 times between 30 and 40 weeks for reduced movement. The first time, she had turned backwards, so I felt less. The others, they learned I had polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid) so I couldnt feel them either. It doesnt matter if you were just there, and this does NOT make you paranoid. Reduced fetal movement should always warrant a call. Theyll likely just bring you in for a NST and hook you up to a fetal monitor to listen to the heart rate and for movements

ETA - my OB had me start kick counts as soon as I started feeling Liv consistently. Since you have noticed patterns, Id call that consistent. Its worth a call at least. They can always reassure you

So, I'm 22.5 weeks and have been feeling definite fetal movement since 20 weeks. Not all day every day, but some movement every day. At first, it was mostly at night. About a week and a half ago, I started feeling more during the day (but still most at night). Yesterday, I didn't feel much movement - a few little kicks during the day and nothing at night right until I went to bed (and then it was just a few little kicks). This morning, I felt a few little kicks very early, but nothing since (it's about 9:30). Would this give you cause for concern?

FWIW, I had an OB appt. two days ago and all was well. I hate to call my OB for something like this, particularly if it's normal to feel some changes in movement this early on (and particularly where I JUST was in AND had to call yesterday re: hemorrhoid). My husband (a doctor, but not an OB) seems to think it's normal this early on and that they don't care much about changes in movement until the third trimester. Also, I have an anterior placenta, so maybe he is just snuggled over there and that's why I'm not feeling him much. Finally, I have been ridiculously gassy since yesterday - like as in my stomach is hard as a rock. This could potentially play a role in what I'm feeling, too.

Thoughts?
