We live in a one bedroom and she does not have a closet. Our DD has a dresser that doubles as a changing table. Works perfectly for us.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I think if the shelving is wide and tall enough, that should be fine. We have a dresser in our room, but we actually don't have any clothes in it! I like the dresser though because I store the diapers, wipes, diaper pail bags, etc all in the top drawer, so they're out of sight but really convenient.

If I could put all his clothes in the closet, I would not have gotten a dresser. As long as the bookshelf has a place for changing supplies, I would just do that.

Small room, want to maximize floor space for eventual toddler play...

If you were able to store all LO's clothes in a closet via an organizer would you still want a dresser in the room for the purpose of using it as a changing table? Or would you use Ikea's Expedit shelves for book, toy storage and place to put a changing pad?
