I was on a flight across the Atlantic once when someone in the next row changed an older baby's poopy diaper. I swear the smell lingered for hours.</p> <p>On our last trip the changing table was in the bathroom at the front of the plane. We were at the back. It was hard to get a chance to use the bathroom since you can't line up in the front. I never even thought about using the seat actually, but more because in over 10 flights we've always had people right next to us and he is prone to blow-outs on take-off. So many close calls with leaking and mess in the bathroom, I wouldn't know where to look if poo hit the fan in the seats!! Now that he's a toddler, I wouldn't trust him to stay still. Baring an emergency, the idea really rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's just me but I typically change a pee-only diaper in like 30 seconds so it just isn't worth the trip to the bathroom, nor do I think it's long enough or stinky enough to even be noticeable by other passengers. Now, I probably wouldn't do it if we had a third person in the row with us, but we normally get a whole row to ourselves so that makes it easy.</p> <p>My mom has a story about flying across the Atlantic with my sister when she was a baby, and the man in the seat next to her exclaimed at her "You better not change that baby here!" and she said "Um I just changed her a minute ago and you didn't even notice." I always tried to go back to the bathroom to use the changing table, but once it was broken, and the flight attendant told me just to do it on the seat. The second time, he had a majoooor blowout, and I was by myself. The flight attendant stopped me, and said to come back to the back of the plane. She laid down a garbage bag on a seat in an empty row, and I changed him there. It would have been hard to do otherwise because it was everywhere. I was kind of embarrassed, but I wasn't going to argue with her, and it was easier for me! I don't trust anyone to provide my necessities.</p> <p>We took extra wipes, more diapers and clothes than we thought we would need. 2 changes of clothes per kid!! Also, take a second shirt and pants for you, if you can. Blowouts take out not just them but you, too sometimes... </p>
