@regberadaisy: in the absence of fever and tachypnea, I feel like many docs would miss the pneumonia. It sounds like their management today was less than confidence inspiring, but it is most likely that the pneumonia developed over time.

Anyway, I'm not trying to stop you, but I see a lot of families switch after what they see as a delayed diagnosis while often there is a more nuanced story that people fail to understand. It still sounds like they were kind of jerky and not very responsive to you!

@regberadaisy: I had "walking pneumonia" for a year when I was four, which took awhile to diagnose/treat, so it does happen, but you need to be able to communicate with and trust your pediatrician. I think trust is more important with my daughter's pediatrician than my own! I'd switch immediately if I were you, if you can get in somewhere else that you like better.

@Mrs. Jacks: no, I feel like they should have responded to us insisting that there was something else wrong due to her coughing for almost a month straight. We've brought her in 3x because of this and each time they said there was no fluid in her lungs. Just this morning he ruled out pneumonia or any bronchial infection but sent M to get a chest X-ray in case she was coughing due to something being lodged. That's when they found fluids in her lungs. I understand dr are humans too and can make mistakes or a bad judgement. But this is pneumonia in a 1 year old. And I do not like how the nurses responded to my questions in how this could have happened. Bottom line I don't trust them any more. If I can't trust them I will not put the health of my children in their hands. Up till today I trusted them 90%.

I guess it depends why you don't trust the current one. If it's like what @Mrs. Jacks mentioned, and you think the pneumonia was preventable then I would say stick with him until she is better. If you're worried about his treatment plan, then seeking other opinions makes perfect sense!

Why do you not trust your ped? Are you feeling like they should have been able to prevent pneumonia?

Long story short, M has pneumonia and I no longer trust our pediatrician. I want to switch immediately. But LO has pneumonia and just started amoxicillin. Should we wait till her pneumonia is cleared before changing? Or is it a better idea to switch when she is sick to get another opinion?

The two new peds I'm thinking about:
1 we toured when I was pregnant and we both really liked but didn't choose due to distance.
2 we did not tour bc of distance but I have also heard good things about.

Both come recommended my friends & co workers.

What would you do.
