We just swapped the crib to the toddler rail. The only other furniture was the combo unit (no hutch top) and one of those storage units with the little cubbies for toys. When we moved last year (he was 3 at the time) we painted a more grown up room (light blue with a chevron pattern in light blue, navy and orange on one wall) and converted his bed to a full. The combo unit is also in there and we are in the process of doing a closet organization system. We're still working on DD's room :silly:

I started all over because we moved and sold all of the nursery furniture.

I began with the bedding and pulled the colors from there.

So far, all we've done is secure furniture to the walls and remove the framed artwork from above her crib (she was able to reach some of them). At some point, we will convert her crib to a toddler bed (or possibly floor bed) and remove the armchair that we use for nursing.

We will take the front off the crib, secure all furniture to the wall and that's about it!

We replaced the crib with a floor bed replaced the glider with a folding frameless futon, bolted the dresser to the wall, removed the bookshelf (books are lined up against the wall), and put a lock on the closet.

DH's baby sister was a climber as a toddler and fell from a bookshelf or closet shelf. She ended up with a facial scar that his family talks about all the time - I can barely see it. So DH was adamant that there would be nothing to climb on. At this point he's forgotten that he insisted on drawer locks for the dresser. As the one that dresses and puts away laundry I thought that was a step too far for our non-climber.

We didn't change anything aside from swapping out the furniture! Moved out the dresser nightstand crib combo and added in the twin bed dresser and nightstand combo!

We removed the glider, added a big bed, added a book shelf and then new bedding. That's about it.

What did you change? We're not quite there yet...we want to get T walking before we convert to a toddler bed. But ive been thinking about what all I want to change, since his letters and wallart are centered over his crib I'll probably redo them, remove the rocking chair and bookshelf to make room for his toys. Right now it's not a place to play because it's full of baby supplies but I want to make it HIS space.

How did you change from a nursery to a big boy/girl room?
