@Corduroy: Agreed!!!!!! I don't love that it is petroleum based but it works better than anything else and I am a lip balm addict and have probably tried everything!

My other favorite is First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy that I recently found at Sephora.

I use regular vaseline, not even the stuff marketed as lip therapy I don't know the difference but regular vaseline is cheaper.

This may seem weird, but honey on your lips could help with moisture. Years ago I used to do manuka honey face masks and I would let the honey drip onto my lips. I'd keep it on my lips for like 20 minutes with the face mask and my lips were so soft and smooth afterwards.

I used Accutane for acne about 8 years ago and it just sucked any and all moisture out of my skin, including my lips. What worked the best for me then was a brand called Lypsyl or any of the Yes To lip balms. Aquaphor helped at night but during the day I felt like it wore off too quickly.

I can drink tons of water and slather on balms, but my dry, chapped lips just continue....I am not sure what to do really, other than exfoliate, which I fee causes the problem too!

@SweetCaroline: Aquaphor! Whenever I have chapped lips, I use it religiously, especially before bed. They make little chap stick-sized ones. I always keep one in my bag and one in my nightstand. It works just as well as Vaseline but is a little less icky to use in my opinion.

I have never found chapstick to be especially effective.

@MrsSRS: This is also my go-to for chapped lips! Works like a charm and I use it on my LOs too when they get really chapped. I also use it at night on my under nose area when I've been blowing my nose a lot.

I've been having this lately. It feels terrible! I've done lanolin or coconut oil when going to bed, upped my water intake, and use Fresh sugar lip balm (I buy at Sephora) or Aquaphor during the daytime. The combination of the above has gotten it back under control so far.

@MrsSRS: lanolin actually sounds like sweet relief right now! I think I tossed or lost my last spare tube. Going to keep that remedy in my back pocket!

@peaches1038: I just busted out the giant jar of Vaseline a couple minutes ago and made a note to pick up a couple of those cute little things!

It doesn't feel very nice, but if you can tolerate it, put some lanolin on right before you go to sleep and they will be dramatically better in the morning.

Every now and then I get really chapped lips. The first thing I have to do is change how I drink my water - I typically drink the majority from a straw cup, so I switch to a regular glass so the water is coming in contact with my lips.

Then I use aquaphor as chap stick whenever I am home, I really slather it on thick.

In fact for regular maintenance I have switched to using aquaphor every night and it seems to help. I just use old school Chapstick during the day now.

I normally use Burt's Bees or Eos chapstick. I drink ~100 ounces of water per day. My lips have been chapped for a few weeks now...I'm wondering if I've developed an allergy to one of my chapstick favs! Burt's Bees original has been wearing on me, the peppermint seems to be more irritating, so that could be it.

What are your secrets to rescuing chapped lips? What about on-going, everyday maintenance, what is your fav?
