@stiletto_mom: I mean, it's hard to say since you aren't totally sure when you ovulated. Keep charting and see what happens.

@travellingbee: I think AF is arriving today. Heavy "spotting" and cramps.

If I ovulated on CD 33, does this confirm short luteal phase?

@LindsayInNY: It seems like my temp is staying up (except for that one random dip). But it did go up gradually.

I would probably continuing temping and buy some cheapy OPKs to use as well. I don't really see a sustained temp rise as would happen post-O so I question whether you really did?

If I remove EWCM from CD 31, it moves O-day to CD 33. If I leave it, it stays on CD 31...

What do you all think I should do?
I know for certain that I pulled out EWCM on CD 31, but I couldn't tell on the other days.

@travellingbee: Is that the "Fertility Awareness Detector" option?

@Bigskygirl: Yes, I'm doing it at the exact same time every morning. I only had one temp that wasn't (a few days ago). Doing it orally, I've heard people recommending vaginally for more accurate results, but I think as long as I'm sticking to one method, the fluctuations will be about the same. I don't sleep with my mouth open or anything.

It's a bit tough when you first start charting, but you will get the hang of it. My questions for you are did you temp at the same time each morning without first getting out of bed, and are you temping orally or vaginally? Often oral temps are highly variable, whereas vaginal are less so.

@stiletto_mom: you also might want to try to change the detector (in settings) from advanced to FAM which is the strict charting method advocated for in TCOYF. It's a little less generous.

@LindsayInNY: Ok, I removed the EWCM from FF and it moved the crosshairs to CD 33 instead of CD31. GAHH

But I'm fairly certain it was EWCM on CD 31, I still had some residual EWCM yesterday. Today it's pretty "sticky".

@Tidybee: @LindsayInNY: I used an OPK before but around CD 11. I got 3 days of flashing smiley and the 4th day it was solid. So it seemed like I was getting a surge around CD 15/16 but not ovulating (apparently) until CD 30?!

I still have some stick left, but I didn't want to waste them until I had a firm understanding of the approximate time I ovulate.

I'm with @Tidybee: - have you used OPKs at all? If you removed the one day of EWCM, I would think FF would remove your crosshairs then.

are you taking OPKs to see if you're at least surging? I'm no professional but I would question whether you even ovulated based on that chart. Can you send it to your doctor?

I went to a doctor with just the spotting issues and they ran tests. I think you can go to a doctor and tell them you are TTC and you're concerned with your long cycles and spotting mid cycle.

@travellingbee: Judging from last cycle, if I ovulated when I noticed EWCM, I had a 12 day luteal phase.

Do you think this is enough information to go to a doctor with? Or should I collect another month's worth of data?

@stiletto_mom: It likely all points to a luteal phase defect. Spotting, low temperatures and late O all indicate an LPD.

YES! Since we started TTCing I've been spotting several days before my period. Sometimes mid-cycle. I have no idea what it/that means.

@stiletto_mom: Well looking back at your "chart" from last cycle, you noted EWCM almost on the same day of your cycle, so maybe you do just ovulate late. But I would still be a little wary of such a low shift. Do you ever spot in the last part of your cycle?

From WiseGeekHealth: Reasons Ovulation Might Be Late

The most common cause of late ovulation is a luteal phase defect indicated by poor follicle production, failure of the uterine lining to respond to normal levels of progesterone, or premature demise of the corpus luteum.

And here is some good information about Luteal Phase Defect:
http://www.thefertilesoul.com/pages/Diagnostic_pgs/LUTEAL-PHASE-DEFECT.php

@travellingbee: I actually have no clue when I O. I started temping beginning of March. My last cycle was also very long. Left side twinges and if I did O, then it was definitely delayed/late ovulation too. So I'm not entirely sure when my O-date is (which is why I started temping in the first place).

Thanks so much for your input. I'm really hoping it's not a hormonal problem~

I don't think there is a clear thermal shift there but the EWCM and the HSO cervix would indicate ovulation around that time... The horizontal line is your cover line. They use some weird formula to get that. It is like an average of your previous 6 temperatures (before ovulation) plus .2 or something like that. It's just supposed to help you see the biphasic pattern.

As for symptoms, that totally depends on the person. Some people have them before, during or after and others not at all. Some feel ovulation pains before they ovulate, some while, some after so it totally depends on the person... You just have to track that for a few months and see what your normal is.

I would think that if you did ovulate, you might want to get your progesterone levels checked because your temps really haven't risen much and your "fall back" (where it dipped back down) can sometimes indicate lower levels of progesterone I think.

Do you always O that late?

Please take a look at my chart. I've been waiting for O to happen but I'm still not sure if I did.

FF put the crosshairs on this morning. Is it SAFE to assume that I have ovulated on Day 31 (5 days ago)? Or it is just FF's "guess" because I entered EWCM and cervix high/soft/open?

I'm CD 36 today and my breasts are a little tender. Is this a post-ovulation thing or most likely during? Or even before? How do I pinpoint my O-day if my chart doesn't exactly look biphasic yet? Also, what is the horizontal red line for? Is it an average?
