Like PPs, I am reading TCOYF and using fertilityfriend.com

I bought the BB thermometer from amazon, the TCOYF book, and OPK/Pregnancy Test Strips for around $40 total.

I've recently just started charting/temping and am still figuring out how to use OPKs, etc. I'm still waiting for my cycles to regulate so that I can get a better handle on how to read my temperatures, etc.

@eeh: I did read TCOYF and do think it's good, but it's dense and not all of it is necessary. You could totally get by with just reading stuff on the internet and going to TCOYF or FF site. I wrote a super basic blog post summary about it too if you want to check it out. http://babymakingmerrygoround.blogspot.com/2011/10/bbt-charting.html

i didn't bother with the books. i bought a fertility monitor and peed on a stick for a week or so. it tells you when your fertile days are. also used opk sticks in conjunction. bought myself a basal thermometor and documented my daily temps on fertilityfriend.com. and plugged in my opk and fertility +s.

Ditto on signing up for fertility friend. I found that helped out immensely! Plus if you have a smart phone they have an app. In regards to a BBT I've gone through a couple and find that I like the one at Walmart the best, it's accurate and fast. The target one has a tendency to have favorite temps and the CVS one takes what feels like a long time though it worked just fine. Goodluck!

I haven't tried it, but fertilityfriend.com has a free little online course than explains charting, etc.

I agree with Taking Charge and Fertility Friend.

Really just start by getting a basal thermometer, taking your temp first thing every morning and writing down the temp. Later on you can get into more detailed stuff like cervical mucus and position.

I did really like this chart and used it a lot too: http://www.justmommies.com/chart2.pdf

I also recommend TCOYF. I never understood charting until I read that book. This is our second cycle applying all the principles in the book (7th ttc cycle overall).

Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great place to start. I also love http://www.fertilityfriend.com You can do all your charting online and they have several videos and a free ebook the explains a lot about how to chart.

Most people will suggest the book Taking Charge of your Fertility. I haven't read it, but lots of people have had success with it. I personally just use an app on my phone called "my days" to track my cycles and it tells me my fertile days. We start TTC next month so I can't tell you how well it works yet. But I trust it because my I have VERY reliable 29 day cycles and my CM tends to agree with expected fertile/ovulation days that my app gives me. I tried temping but I get up to pee at really odd hours early in the morning so I could never get a good rhythm.

We've been TTC for four months now with no luck. I would like to start charting so I can be more on top if things and be armed with more knowledge should we need to get help from doctors in the future. However, I have no clue where to start and the whole thing is overwhelming to me.

Does anyone have any good resources or a nice breakdown of what I should do and when and how and all that fun stuff.
