I agree with others, what matters most is that you are consistent with how you are marking your own cycles. That said, I think I once got a pop-up notification from FF that defined spotting as when color shows when you wipe/check your cervix, but is not enough to require a liner.

For me I do:

Spotting - inconsistent light brown streaks/spots
Light - pinkish, red
Medium - red flow that soaks most of the pad
Heavy - some clots, red flow soaking most/through the pad within 3 - 4 hours.

My periods usually start with spotting a day or two before. First two days are full blown heavy. 3 - 5 day medium. And 6 day light. 7th day gone or spotting.

Ugh, AF lasted just a day and a half this time; a medium day and a light day. That's after 44 days of it having time to build up. I'm going to call my obgyn tomorrow because of the cysts in November + irregular periods + light periods and hope that maybe he'll do bloodwork early instead of waiting another month / cycle.

@SimplyFelicity: I haven't been tested, but my doctor said that if my cycles are still irregular or long by early March to call and we'll run various tests.

I've attached my chart overlay. My temps always stay above the coverline, but I feel like they're a lot closer to the line than most people's are. The Sept 5th cycle was the BFP/loss.

On the bright side I have a 12-13 day LP and almost no spotting before (although, I wonder what spotting exactly is...). BUT, there's also this line of thinking: http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/does-a-normal-chart-rule-out-progesterone-deficiency

Yeah I wouldn't worry about this too much. It's very subjective and as long as you have good records for yourself I don't think it matters too much.

I don't think how you are classifying them is important. You just want to be consistent.

It may be subjective and based on the person. I have heavier periods and would classify days 1-2 as heavy, 3 as medium, 4 as light and 5 as spotting.

Have you been tested for low P?

On FF, how do you classify your AF status as spotting, light, medium, or heavy?? I know it's all rather subjective but I'd like to know if I'm more in line with other women. I think I would classify pantiliner days as spotting, 1-tampon days as light, 2-tampon days as medium, etc? For me, AF is usually only 3 days, requiring only light tampons and pantiliners.

Since I'm now entering my 5th TTC cycle and my 7th month of trying, with a loss in Oct, I'm trying to make sure my charts are as accurate as possible. I'm afraid of low P/uterine lining due to the seemingly low post-O temps, loss, and very light/short periods.
