I wouldn't want my husband to do an at home semen analysis, because after going through a couple with the doctor they said that getting the sample at home comes with more risk of it being incorrect.

I'm a little concerned all the sitting with a laptop on his lap and cell phone in his pocket is affecting things, so I might use it.

sooo... last month I got the Fairhaven test on Amazon. We had been TTC for just over 6 months and figured we'd try it. Husband made me leave while he did the test - haha - when I returned the results were negative, or positve, whatever is bad... Meaning, low count. He said he messed up part of it though so it may not have been 100% accurate.... And then about 2 weeks later I was pregnant.

So... like SweetKate & MerryC said -- it's probably better to test motility/morphology than these at home tests that are REALLY easy to screw up, and may not be that accurate.

I would consider it 3 or 4 months from now after a good 6 months of trying to find out if there are unknown issues.

I agree with MerryC, there is so much more involved than just sperm count. A man can have a great count but if the motility and morphology aren't good than you could still have problems getting pregnant.

i would only do it if we've been ttc for awhile with no results.

I would only do it if we were having problems TTC. I've gotten pregnant twice.... so I'm hoping I'll never need it.

The price varies a ton depending on the medical facility, but we were able to get a full semen analysis at our local hospital for about $65. Any problems often lie in factors of morphology, motility, etc. rather than just count. So my 2 cents is that I'd rather have an SA performed with a true medical analysis, because otherwise you're not getting the full picture, and could therefore get a false sense of security or worry.

Same here, it sounds neat and I'd be interested just for the fun of it, but we don't NEED it so I wouldn't shell out the cash. But it would be cool to know.

A new product called SpermCheck (http://www.spermcheck.com/) is available now at Walgreens.com and CVS.com. I read about it today in TIME magazine.

Would any of you try this out? We're not even TTC and I admit I am really tempted!
