I wake up several times a night with the baby and would check on him then. But, my older two boys were recently sick and neither slept well during the worst of it so it's not like I had the choice not to check on them.

If I wake up I check the video monitor. I never go in her room because I don't want to risk waking her.

Ive never checked my daughter in the middle of the night. I guess I just figure if she needs me, she'll wake me up. And if she doesn't, sleep is the best thing for her.

I would check before I went to bed and maybe if I woke up in the night but I wouldn't set an alarm or anything. If they woke up crying I would go in, though, instead of waiting a few minutes to see if they'd settle themselves.

If your LO is sick do you make a point to check on them in the middle of the night?

My oldest has been really sick this week, high fever, not eating, was vomiting. I check on her before bed and then just leave my door and her door wide open (our rooms are just across the hall from each other). Then DH checks on her several hours after I do before he goes to bed. The first night I had intentions of waking up to check her temp but never did, oops!
