My CP was just more clotty than a typical period but not heavier. I, too, wouldn't consider it a CP without a positive hpt.

If anything my CP was my lightest period ever. Only 2 days long and normally my periods are 4-5 days in length.

Breastfeeding can definitely mess with your luteal phase. I know a co-worker of mine had to wean entirely in order to get pregnant. They tried for a year and as soon as she weaned, she was pregnant that month. Might be coincidental but she was convinced it was because of her LP. Not always the case though as many women (me included) have got pregnant while breastfeeding.

@Zbug: I had a CP and my bleeding was really not more than a typical period.

When I was BF, my periods and cycles were all over the map. Some short, some long, some light, some really heavy. So maybe it's just a weird month?

Even if it was a chemical, i don't know how or why your flow would be so heavy. It's not like there was an excess of lining to be shed. It would be negligible. I'd just chalk it up to a weirdo period (we all have them!) and call it a day! blame it on the hormones!

I would not call that a chemical pregnancy. I don't have any experience with breastfeeding, but I have had success in lengthening my luteal phase by taking vitex.

BFing can mess with your cycle. I had very heavy periods, then normal, then heavy again. I wasn't tracking while I was nursing, so I don't know if I had a short LP then, but my cycles after I weaned were still a little off. I suffered a m/c in Nov and have had a short LP since then. I'm taking a B Complex vitamin in addition to my prenatal this cycle and it appears to be helping (no spotting so far!). B6 and B12 are good for fertility and often it is imbalanced hormones (whether related to BFing or other issues) that causes short LPs, spotting and irregular cycles. I've also heard good things about Vitex, but have no experience with it. Hope you find a solution that works for you!

I'm actually not sad about it. I just trying to figure out what's going on and whether perhaps BFing is causing a short luteal phase and perhaps there's no point really trying now. I'm basically just looking to see if anyone had a similar experience. (Tmi) but I'm going thru a super plus tampon every 45 min. This is my 7th postpartum period. The first was light but the rest have been very normal. This is extremely unusual for me. obviously, I can't be completely sure this is a CP, but that is exactly why I posed the question.

I agree with the others, unless you had a positive test, try not to talk yourself into thinking it was a m/c. No need to get sad over something you're not sure about!

Sorry you are dealing with this. I wouldn't call it a chemical pregnancy unless you had a positive test. There are lots of other reasons you could feel nauseous and have other pregnancy symptoms. If you feel like that again, maybe take a pregnancy test for peace of mind. Then you'll have an answer one way or the other...

Short luteal phases and weird periods whilst nursing can seem to simulate pregnancy but unless you have seen a positive pregnancy test I wouldn't assume so. When I was nursing my LP was so short. It lengthened a bit as gradually weaned but I couldn't get pregnant until I did. Best of luck!

Hey all. So I think I just had a chemical pregnancy. I started feeling nauseous about a week after I ovulated. I know most people don't feel any symptoms until after implantation, but I felt exactly the same as when I was pregnant with dd, so I had my suspicions. I ended up getting my period, but it's ridiculously heavy. I got my period back at 10 mo pp, it's 15 mo pp now, and this is much heavier than it's ever been. Does this sound like a possible chemical pregnancy?

My second issue is that I'm still breastfeeding. Pre baby, my cycles were 32-33 days, but they have been 28 days the last few months. I don't think I ovulated, however, until day 18 or 19, which would mean my luteal phase is significantly shorter than it was when I got pregnant with dd. I was only tracking EWCM, not temping. I know breastfeeding can shorten your luteal phase, so I'm just wondering if that's the case.

If anyone has had any similar experiences, I would love any insight.
