My sister has a Cobalt and has had several issues with it. She's not a fan. I'm not either, I think it's tiny!

I have one, it's a 2008 coupe. It's been a decent car for the money, but it's starting to have some issues pop up. Nothing huge, the most annoying thing is that the dinger/warning lights aren't working right now - so if you leave the lights on or have low fuel you don't notice right away.

There's also a recall on something with the ignition switch right now. Basically, there's a chance the key could fall out/turn off while you're driving if you have a lot of keychains on the ignition key. No fix for it yet.

I had one for four years, loved it! Was a great little car, not awesome on fuel, but decent enough for the commute I did with it! If it didn't have a leaky sunroof (replaced three times under warranty, likely a whackload of water damage) I would have bought it off lease, but chose to let it go.

@DillonLion: my brother has one and it's tiny in the backseat and uncomfortable. it also has a huge safety recall - it just stalls out while driving sometimes. he has also broken off one of his door handles.

Our 3rd car is a Focus hatchback and we love it. It's surprisingly roomy in the backseat for a compact car and can hold a TON in the back.

@DillonLion: My sister has one that she commutes with, she's had no issues in the 2 years she's had it. She has two kids, both in boosters, and there is enough room for them in the back. She's happy.

I had a Mazda 3 that I loved! It was great in gas and roomy in the back. I took my dog (60lb) on road trips in it all the time. You could probably find an '06 in your price range.

My brother has one. He likes it, but I find the interior kind of cheapy and it's small and uncomfortable to ride in. The backseat has like .2" of leg room. Worse than my Mustang I had in college.

I don't have one, but we rented one for a trip. It was okay, kind of small, and the back seat was sort of uncomfortable. I wasn't impressed with it.

Anyone have this car? We are looking at one as our second car. Our other car is our family friendly crossover suv.

We have a monster commute, so we want something that's fuel efficient, but can still fit our whole family plus gear in a bind. That would be me, DH, LO (in a car seat) and a 50lb dog. Would we all fit? DH is not very tall, so leg space isn't a huge deal.

Curious if this is one we should check out. Our budget is about 6k so we are looking at an 07 model. If you have another suggestion in that range, I'm all ears as well.

Eta: usually it would just be DH riding solo in this vehicle.
