We have a MyFit. If you rate install from 1-5 with one being easiest and ClickTight is a 1, the MyFit is a 2. I think getting a good seatbelt install with it is actually easier than the LATCH install. The crotch buckle does a decent job of staying out of the way, but unless you loosen and tighten the harness every time, the way the harness drapes in the seat makes me have to dig it out from under/behind.

@Foodnerd81: it only unbuckles, but still saves you a step! Pretty sure they’re under $20

@bees_knees: does the unbuckle me let them buckle it themselves? I thought it only unbuckled?

@Foodnerd81: good to know it’s not just me! :)

Have you looked at getting an UnbuckleMe for her? Then she could do the crotch clip herself too! It is seriously such a help that DS1 can buckle/unbuckle himself. I mean I can reach him, but I also have his two little brothers to tend to :silly:

If you want to try the seat out, you can just order one from amazon and return it if you don’t like it. Or target? I don’t know if that’s unethical, but it was my only option because no one carries them within a 4 hour radius of us 😳

This would be going in my husband’s Volkswagen Passat. It’s definitely harder to install car seats in his than in my Lexus rx350 suv. Even though his backseat is a little roomier somehow.

@bees_knees: thanks for this!! I’ve read reveiws but never to directly compare. And yes my 6 year old cannot loosen the straps on the frontier, but I don’t loosen them when i buckle/ unbuckle, I just leave it tightened. I can reach from the drivers seat to her to unbuckle the crotch part (she does the chest clip) and she climbs out whichever side. But they have EZbuckle or something and it’s literally never gotten stuck under her bum, it’s always laying flat between her legs. Revolutionary I tell you.

That’s so odd about the leaning. I remember that happening with our infant seat base until we got a special locking clip, but I’ve had a nextfit installed with the seatbelt for months and I don’t think it leans. But I do remember reading that in a review as well, it’s not just you. 😊

I’m a fellow ClickTight lover, and we have 2 Chicco MyFits!

The CT is def quicker to install, but we really like the MyFits too. I like that they are more narrow (I can fit 3 across in my husbands F150 with two MyFits and a Britax Advocate), and the seat belt install took me a few tries to perfect, but now it’s just barely any more annoying than a CT install. The lock offs work well.

I actually tried to get Britax Frontier CTs but they have an open back and I couldn’t get the harnesses tight enough! (I drive a Yukon XL. My friend has a Frontier in a Ford Expedition and said she doesn’t have that problem, so it just depends on vehicle type!) Also the harness release button is kind of hidden/a weird angle, which I guess is great if your kid tries to loosen himself while you’re driving down the road, but not so great if you have a responsible 4/5 year old who is capable of unbuckling himself. (DS1 had been unbuckling himself for months, but couldn’t get his finger in the harness release of the Frontier)

Yeah I guess the crotch buckle gets stuck under DS2, but because if the way he slides into his seat I don’t think there’s any way to prevent that.

The only complaint I have about the MyFits is that they eventually start to lean towards whatever side the seat belt buckle is. Does this happen with other belt installed seats? The install is still good, it’s just. Leaning. Haha.

We need to replace the car seats in my husband’s car after a really minor car accident. Currently we have a Chicco nextfit for my FF 3.5, but if I have to replace anyway, I’m thinking I will get a harness to booster instead.

In my car her big sister is in a Britax Frontier, which is the front runner right now. Before I buy that again, I’m considering other options but have specific questions.

Can anyone compare the seatbelt install with the Myfit to britax ClickTight? I’m somewhat obsessed wth how easy the ClickTight install is and it would be hard to give up. I can do a latch installation for a while but eventually she will max out the weight so thinking ahead. I cannot get a good seatbelt install with our nextfit in his car for some reason, but it looks like they have updated the seat belt lock offs in newer Chicco seats? Ours is from 2014 ish.

Does the crotch buckle get stuck under the kids butt so you have to fish it out? That happens in the nextfit, and the frontier has something that makes it lay flat away from the kid so I never have to reach under.

I know both seats are very heavy. The Myfit is a few inches narrower which would be really helpful on the rare times I have to sit in the back if we have another passenger in the front. Or I suppose car pooling as the kids get bigger? But if it’s hard to install I will be cursing myself for not getting a frontier. The 3.5 yo is really small, 2% for height currently, so the higher harness height limit isn’t a concern.

Also- besides Buy Buy Baby, where can I try a car seat in my car?
