Thank you ladies. I agree that three providers is too much for someone so little.

DH is going to look into me only working 4 days OR LO will be with my Mom 3 days and daycare 2 days.

@MaisyMay: I like the idea of MIL being able to pick him up from daycare to have some Grandma time.

I think I'd agree that MIL is done if she can only do one day. Three care providers is tough. How can you be sure that he is on a schedule when you have three different people taking care of him? As tough as it would be, I think I would go with Gram care plus daycare.

I think replacing MIL's days would be best, 3 providers is too much. Use MIL as a back up.

Yea and maybe MIl could be a back up for your mom to give her a break as needed.

Could MIL and Mom come to your house? Maybe there'd be better continuity if he was in the same environment with different caregivers?

I agree with Brownie, MIL gets dropped, just explain that 3 is too many and that she is always welcome to visit on weekends or evenings but that you need to have a reliable second provider who can do more than one day a week.

I have been trying to find care for my child two days a week and let me tell you, I have found ZERO day cares that will take a baby one day a week. It's very hard to find two or three days a week. A nanny would be a good option but like you I would have a problem with the inconsistency of three different situations...

I'd do daycare 2 days a week. Maybe on her free day you MIL could pick LO up a few hours early from daycare to have some time? That way it's more "grandma time" instead of a job?

My vote would be to replace MIL, just for the purpose of consistency. I'd imagine so many different providers would be stressful on your LO.

Personally, I agree that three caregivers is difficult on kids. So my vote would be that you replace MIL. If she wants time, she can come visit but as a childcare provider she isn't available enough.

Right now we have Grandma-care. My Mom has LO 3 days per week and my MIL has him 2 days a week. MIL just told us that starting in May she can only take LO 1 day per week.

I think that having 3 care providers (Mom, MIL, Daycare) is too much.

There are a few ways we can handle this - ask my mom to take on another day (will be tough for her).

Try to cut down my hours at work - would result in a pay cut

Put him in daycare 2 days per week and not have MIL involved with childcare - might not go over very well as there is a good chance we will be seen as not 'letting' MIL take the baby.

Hire a nanny for 1 day per week.

I am just really uncomfortable with the though of him having 3 different providers.

What are your thoughts?
