@wheres_c: Tor is 18 months old. My ped was not concerned but pediatricians often times aren't on top of this sort of thing and if my son needs services he will only qualify for them till he is 3 so I want to give him as much time as possible. It can really help improve the outcome. I figure if he has an issue then good I got him in and if not then it will be nice to be reassured. I looked up my local EI office online. It was really easy.

@rattles: 15 months is still pretty young but I would definitely try those techniques and then if she still seems distracted you can always call EI in a few months. I say trust your gut.

@rawrasaur: thank you!!!

@wheres_c: A only knows a few simple words (up, hi, dog). Although, she does use a lot of nonverbal communication.

@MrsMccarthy: Good luck with the EI!

Thanks for sharing this! L responds to her name a fair amount of the time, but not as consistently as I'd like given that she still isn't talking (15 months). I'll try some of these just to work on it.

@wheres_c: I'm kind of glad to hear B isn't talking yet either. Our ped referred us to a speech therapist at our 15 month appointment (last week) for further evaluation. It's through the state, so they've processed our referral but won't meet with us for another couple of weeks, it looks like.

How old is he? If I recall, he's only a few months older than B.when did you set up the ei? Was it you or the Ped that prompted it?

Thanks for sharing that link. I would say that B doesn't respond to his name 50% of the time. Sometimes I fear it as a red flag, other times I think he's intentionally ignoring me. Also he's still not saying any words, but like T he is playful and social.

I found this interesting. My son concerns me a lot because he doesn't respond to his name very well. Maybe 20 percent of the time. That and his intermittent eye contact stand out to me but he doesn't really have any other red flags for ASD. He is playful and very social. We have EI coming next week to evaluate him but in the interim I found this and thought I would share it in case anyone else wants to try the exercise with their LO.
