2-2/12 would be ideal. They may overlap in diapers for a short period of time depending on training, but I want them to be within a couple years of school together.

We wanted 2.5 years but now they will be 22 months apart. Having a boy definitely takes longer to "potty train" so what's more diapers?! ha

I have a sister who is 6 years younger and one who is 12 years younger. That gap is too big! I think I'd like to space them 2-3 years apart but we'll see what happens.

We had similar plans to you. I'm at SAHM so when DS was born I knew we couldn't buy a house until I went back to work. By the time DS was a year old, DH got a promotion at work and for 6 months we lived in my parents guest house to save money. In that time DH got another promotion. We then rented a house for nearly a year until we found our house and put down 3.5% for our FHA loan. We had been ttc all last summer while searching for a house. So, DS is now almost 3 and DD is due in 7 weeks.

I'm planning on going back to school (at night) when DD is 6-9 months old and then by the time I finish DS will be in kindergarten and I'll only have to pay for daycare for DD (unless our parents retire by then).

I want a gap of no more than 2 yrs. It will be hard if it works out that way, but I want to get it out of the way so to speak, and raise them close in age going through a lot of the same things together. However, I also want to devote the 1st yr entirely to the first LO, so we will start trying right after 1yr birthday of future LO.

When we got married, we wanted a big gap between our kids like 3-5 years. Well, since we are taking longer than expected to get pregnant and I'm getting older, I think I'm fine with them being 2 years apart.

My "plans" we're completely blow out of the water. My husband and I thought we would have two kids two to three years apart. Now I have four kids and my oldest is 3. When we couldn't get pregnant we adopted. 8.5 months later along comes ou twins. When we thought we would try for our girl we expected it to take awhile (three years to get pregnant the first time). 9 months later she was here. Nothing seemed to go as planned so now I am a very busy mommy but it's great.

@miss-spunkin: It's nice to have dreams of perfect pregnancies right? I actually really liked being pregnant until my scare and getting sequestered to the couch. Oh, I plan on some sort of prevention for at least a year post birth....I had a friend who had Irish Twins even though she was BF'ing!

@miss-spunkin: I was so confident after having a super easy pregnancy until recently - I thought I would just pop 'em out! And, since it took us 8 months for this baby, I thought we'd start trying when baby turned 1. Now, thinking that timeline will be delayed by at least 6 months, maybe a year. I'm going to be almost 32 when this one is born, so we can't wait tooooo long....

We haven't made an official decision. But I would ideally like our kids to be 18-24 months apart. My husband's siblings are about 2 years apart and they are all SUPER close.
I want to wait till at least #1 is one year before TTC. I want to be able to completely devote that first year to her before thinking about other kids!

I know it'll be harder on us when they are younger. But I think the proximity in their age will help foster a closeness that will be worth it to me.

But we'll see where life takes us! :)

Right now, we want 3, each about 2-3 years apart. We want to start trying again once the first is 15-18 months. One huge thing to consider is childcare. Thankfully, I work at a daycare as a preschool teacher, so I get a major discount.

We're TTC #1 now, so obviously nothing is set in stone.

We originally wanted 3 kids all about 2 years apart. However, now that I've had to be on bedrest for what will be 6 weeks in this pregnancy, I'm not sure when we will have #2. Maybe start trying 1.5 years after #1 is born. So much to consider!

If it were up to me, I would want them one right after another (just 2 total)-- all of my mommy friends laugh at me because I don't have any yet (just 28 weeks pg w/ 1st LO), so they all think I won't go through with it.

IMO, it's better to get it all over with ASAP instead of having to go through the newborn-diapers phase w/ LO #1 and then starting all over again when LO #2 comes along.

Like you, we want to wait until our first is out of diapers. If that happens way sooner than anticipated I'll welcome the diaper relief but that doesn't mean we'll start trying right then and there. My husband has 5 years between him and his sister and likes that gap and I have 2.5 years between mine and like that so we'll probably go somewhere in that range.

What are your plans for child spacing?

We are still up in the air about it, we're not sure what we want. We know for sure we want to wait until our first is out of diapers, so 2.5-3 years at least.

But there is one other issue in our future. We REALLY want to buy our own home, but we're being practical about it - we know we can't afford it now and since I'm a SAHM all of my husband's income goes to bills, food, rent, etc so we can't even save much. I'm going back to school to finish my BA/BS, then I want to get a FT job and put nearly all of my income into saving for a house.
But I don't want to have another baby if I just started a new job, and daycare for two kids might make me working obsolete, and I really like the idea of spending the first couple years with my LO's...

So we're not sure.. we're just gonna see how things go.
