We got one of these sheets at my prenatal class. One of the phrases was "keep on keeping on"

seriously? I would punch someone for saying that to me in labour! Soooo funny.

The common presumed of the other gals I was laughing with involved a fork to the thigh of any SO who tried to use some of these...except that knowing my DH he'll still try to use the funniest ones to make me laugh the baby out.

Wow. Just wow. I think if my husband had said anything other than, "you're doing a great job!" I might have slugged him. :-)

hahahaha "I've never seen anyone do it better" bahaha. way too funny.

"keep working on it, you're getting better" totally would have solicited a slap from me lol!!

Actually my husband and I talked about this before giving birth. I wanted him to say things that would encourage me and build me up - not that would frustrate or upset me. So I actually came up with a list of phrases that I find particularly sweet or helpful coming from him.
Some of my favorites that he said during labor/birth were:
"You're so pretty, such a pretty mama."
"You are so beautiful - what an amazing woman you are."
"You are a strong, confident woman, and you were born to do this!"
"I am so, so proud of you."
"I love you."

they were amazing at the time and gave me so much encouragement.

Lol! I was thinking the same as @Mamamoose! If DH tells me I'm making pushing a baby out of my vagina fun, we are are going to have problems!!! This list is funny. And possibly thought up by a man!

I thought "yes, dear," "I love you," and "please don't kill me" would be more appropriate. Also "You're not going to die," "I have a cup of wine with your name on it," "I'll get a vasectomy after the next baby," "I left my smart phone at home," "I'll wash the dishes for a year," and "I'll change all his diapers during my paternity leave."

So at our childbirth class last week the instructor mentioned a few phrases that support persons could remember to tell the mother during childbirth. One of the fathers-to-be asked if she could make us copies of the handout she was reading from (so he could bring it into the delivery room with him). So at today's class she brought in copies, and I had to share them...a lot of them had most of us cracking up.

Bear in mind this handout was written in 1985...and copied directly...all spelling and grammatical or phrasing errors are on the handout.

(DH and I particularly like #82 :)
