We're really lucky in our jobs and we can work from home if LO gets sick. So we'll probably switch off days.

Either me or my husband will stay at home. But if we can't, my mom watches my son so she's with him all day. And if for some reason, she got sick, my MIL lives 15 mins away so she could come over in a heartbeat. It's nice having parents live so close by!

When I was still working, DH and I would split the days off. I'd usually take off the mornings, and he'd take off the afternoons, so neither of us had to take a full day. Personally, I love taking care od DD, so any excuse I got to take off work... :)

We have zero backup so one of us has to stay home. Luckily we both have bosses who are parents and totally understand, and luckily both of us are able to work from home to some extent. The only difference is that Wagon Sr. is able to take a family sick day and still get paid for the day, while I would have to take it unpaid. But my schedule is a little more flexible than his so I usually end up being the one to stay home. Sometimes we both stay home so that we can switch off working from home.

I'm a SAHM, so I'm always home. But if needed, I could always have my mom come watch LO.

I ALWAYS stay home. I really don't trust anyone else to monitor the LO when she is sick. Plus, I feel like she needs her mommy. We get some free back-up care service from DH's company but I don't even want to use it.

We have zero backups (at least not regular ones... if it were an emergency we have plenty of people- friends, my sister, etc.- that could help out). DH's schedule is more flexible than mine, so he does the majority of sick days.

I am extremely lucky that my schedule is flexible enough that I can take care of sick kids. Olive's nanny was out on Thursday and Friday because her daughter was really sick (hospitalized). And now Charlie is home from daycare today because he was throwing up and had a fever. I could have Olive's nanny watch both of them, but I don't want Charlie to get Olive sick, and of course he is extra clingy when he is sick anyway.

I think he's going to be home sick again tomorrow. But thank goodness (knock on wood) he is napping right now!

So it's been a long childcare free week.

When your child is sick, do you always stay home from work or do you have a babysitter/backup childcare?
