Ladies I absolutely cannot thank you enough for all your suggestions! I think the solution for us will be buying a second cord for travel and securing this cord permanently with one of the products you all suggested. Again, THANK YOU!

@Meowkers: Maybe some velcoband which you attach to the wall either by glue or screw? Then it should be easy enough to open it up for traveling

That Cordmate product is also known generically as wire mold. You can get ones that stick to the wall and you can also secure with screws for stability. I imagine the adhesive would damage the paint if you took down, though.

I used these white cord tacks for some of my cables. Easy to install.

We have the cordmate from Hope Depot linked above and we leave it permanently attached but can pull out the cord when we need to take it with us for travel. We just unplug it from the camera and pull it through.

To put it back in I drop a piece of twine through the cordmate, tape it to the cord on the other end, and pull the twine back up so the cord comes with it. It's really easy.

I like @kiddosc's suggestion of a separate power cable to use while traveling. Then you can truly secure the cable to the wall.

@Meowkers: These might be a good solution. Though they will likely damage the wall when you try to remove them. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MXOQ2GF/ref=psdc_6577543011_t3_B06Y1DVNQD

ETA: These look like a good, non damaging solution. I might pick up some for our monitor. https://www.amazon.com/Command-Medium-Cord-Clips-4-Clip/dp/B0000AQOHL/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1502215571&sr=1-5&keywords=command+cord+hooks

@BadgerMom: @nanilani: We used those to secure our monitor cord at our old house... They are a permanent solution. They don't open once clipped close and won't come off the wall without serious damage.

@Meowkers: We just had a separate cord we used for travelling. The original cord stayed in the cord keeper on the wall and spare was used for travelling. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ISM267G?psc=1

@BadgerMom: I used something like that for TV cables in my old home, and I couldn't easily remove the cords from it. Maybe that particular model is different, but OP should do more research if she's interested in it.

@skinnycow: Do you mean something like these? http://www.command.com/3M/en_US/command/products/~/Command-Clear-Small-Cord-Clips?N=5924736+3294529207+3294737326&rt=rud I've used them before in an office setting. They wear out after a certain number of open/close cycles, but are cheap and easy to replace when needed.

Check The Container Store! I'm pretty sure I've bought cord securing / organizing sticky things from there that would work

As an additional deterrent, could you put something in front that she won't want to move to get to the cord area? In our case, we have used a "pouf" footstool type thing as well as the big Melissa and Doug giraffe!

has your daughter messed with the cord in the past?
ours has cord hanging in almost the same position. I'll preface this by saying my LO is NOT a rule follower. She took interest in it after we installed it and a after a couple of "no's" she lost total interest. It hasn't been secured since.

I figured the worst that would happen would be that she'd give it a tug and the cord would pop out of the monitor, or the monitor would fall, and neither would be catastrophic.
In either case I'd know it happened bc the monitor wouldn't be working

@skinnycow: so the cord can be taken in and out of the strip while the strip stays attached to the wall? That's exactly what we need! Do you know if they can be purchased separately? Maybe I can look up your monitor brand if you know it?

I have no idea how to describe these so bear with me, but our monitor came with something that would guide/attach the cord to the wall. It’s like a command strip that attaches to the wall with a groove in it that fits the cord. We have a series of five or so that guide the cord from the top corner of DD’s room to the outlet.

Sorry my description is terrible

Looking for child proofing help.

Our baby monitor camera is mounted above the curtain rod with the cord extending down the wall and across to the adjoining wall where it plugs into an outlet behind the crib. The outlet is secured so my daughter can't remove the plug.
However I need a solution for securing the cord to the wall.

The kicker is that is has to be easily removable because the monitor gets taken down and put back up multiple times a month when my daughter goes to visit her grandparents. So i can't install anything that attached to the wall permanently or can't be easily replaced. Picture with arrows to cord and circle where it plugs in. Thanks in advance for your brilliant ideas!
