At home - Secret Life of Pets.

We haven’t taken her to a theater yet but she loves movies and I don’t think it would be a problem to sit through one. She is 2.5.

We love watching movies together as a family! She’s seen the entire Harry Potter series lol.

The Last Unicorn. She still loves it.

She's 4.5 and hasn't been to the movie theater. I doubt she'll go for another few years. There honestly aren't many modern movies that I feel like exposing her to.

@FaithFertility: K likes the crab, haha. But she gets scared even of the part where she goes into the cave in the beginning...

I just watched Coco myself last night, SO cute! I don't know how mine would react to the skeletons tho, and talking about poisoning people!

None of our kids have seen one in a theater. My 5 year old only began to watch movies recently, because of end of the year stuff at school. By the time she was old enough we already had my other child(ren) and it's just not something I think either of us would enjoy enough to make the effort to just take her. My 2 year old has seen a couple at home.

Five year old's first movie was Frozen, two year old's was Moana.

DS2 is only 18 months and hasn't really watched movies. The only thing he will watch on tv is baseball!

@AnnabelleG: My son "watched" Moana for the first time when he was about 27 months. By watched, I mean he glanced at the screen for like 4 minutes total. He's not a quiet, reliable consumer of media unless it's Blippi's "Lawn Mowing" episode.

In the movie theater, it was smurfs, but that wasn't intentional... a local movie chain does "summer movies" for kids once a week re-playing recent favorites for $1 each at 9am.

At home our almost 3 year old hasn’t yet been able to sit through a movie. We’ve tried a couple but he just doesn’t have the interest. Not sure if a theater would be different since here are no distractions but I’m not planning on trying any time soon given the cost.

Tame movies she likes: My Neighbor Totoro, Sing, Storks
Slightly scary: Finding Dory, Zootopia, Moana, Boss Baby, Frozen
TOO scary: Ferdinand (death of parent and slaughterhouse, why did no one tell me?!)

At home, the original Cars movie was his first. In the theater, Despicable Me 3. He LOVED it.

LO2 has yet to see a movie in the theater, and typical second child...I have no idea what his first movie was. I guess because big brother has seen a bunch, and he's been around when those were on that we didn't make it a huge deal with the second.

I can't remember her first movie really because we've been big into movies for a long time. I know when she was young (2-2.5) she was very into Cinderella (the original old one), the Care Bears movie (again, 80's one), and some other classic Disney like Alice in Wonderland and also Aladdin.

Her first movie in the theaters was Finding Dory, and since then we've taken her to see Moana. and the live action Beauty and the Beast at increasing ages.

I think his first favorite movie was Brave, he was obsessed with the bear, he loves 'scary' movies.
Current favs: A Pet's Life, Zootopia, and Alice in Wonderland.

@erinbaderin: we are planning to do the same this weekend for our almost 3 year old. He has watched the first movie at home repeatedly with older sister, and we are planning on both adults and both kids so that if he can’t sit through it someone can stay with each kid. He can sit through a movie at home so I am hoping the novelty of the setting plus the familiarity of the characters will help!

My 6 y/o went to a free screening of wizard of oz at 2.5. She liked it but didn’t really understand it. I did a lot of whispered explaining. So I am anticipating similar this time!

Funny timing - I just bought tickets to the Incredibles 2 for this coming weekend, which is going to be B’s first movie in a theatre, and I’m having second thoughts - does he have the attention span to sit through it?

I’m pretty sure both their first movies at home were Frozen.
