@Mrs.Someone: I am the same as you! This month is our last ditch effort to get everything sorted before going to an RE and I just booked in to see a chiropractor on Thursday!

@Mrs.Someone: I really like it. I was going every week but since I only get 30 sessions a year, we had to cancel some sessions because of my recent canceled IUI. I am going back this Thursday.

No herbs yet.

I think I get the same number of sessions as acupuncture.

I don't really believe in it. I heard it can do more damage to your back and not all medical doctors approve of it.

But, I might consider it now that it could help with infertility. I'm doing acupuncture.

I have heard that you should go to a recommended chiropractor instead of picking a random one. My coworker loves his chiropractor, maybe I'll try it for a couple sessions.

I have very minor back pain now and then. I would hope my back wouldn't get worse by going to a chiropractor.

@Mrs.Someone: I wanted to give acupuncture a try if this wasn't my month. I just needed my cycles to get under control post m/c. The beginning of this cycle I had a super bad 4 day long migraine and I almost wonder if it was hormonal since this month worked out. I'll keep you in my prayers! :)

@Ash: Yep, I've been doing acupuncture since mid-October. It worked the first month, though it ended in early m/c. After that I found out I have MTHFR, so last month was the first month trying post-treatment. I'm taking this month off from acupuncture because I need a break from all-out TTC (still doing herbs though), and because of the cost. My acupuncturist is a great resource in fertility, so I want to keep her around.

BTW, I am SO excited for all of you longer TTCers that are getting BFPs. It helps me keep a positive outlook :)

I've heard very positive things about chiropractors helping with fertility issues. I never went but I did go and highly recommend acupuncture for fertility. I started going to an acupuncturist for fertility about three months later - I'm now pregnant (11 months post-m/c). We got pregnant the last natural cycle before moving onto IVF. I swear my acupuncturist played a role in it.

*I went to one in SF for 9 months - no success; changed to a different acupuncturist in Seattle due to a move and two months later, I'm pregnant!

I've been to a chiropractor for my migraines and it didn't help (actually a few chiropractors), but I'm a firm believer that different things work for different people.

Thanks for the info, I'll pass it on to some people I know who have been struggling to have a baby.

I've never been to a chiropractor and don't think I will, but I did receive Bowen Therapy, which focuses on freeing trapped energy within the body so that it can heal itself. I'm not normally into alternative treatments, but I believe that it is responsible for stopping my chronic UTIs and helping me get pregnant.

I didn't really believe in chiropractic care before, but when I had been TTC for over 6 months with no luck, someone I trust told me to get at least 3 chiropractic adjustments. A week after the 3rd adjustment, I got my BFP. I have no idea if it was due to the adjustments, if they helped, or if it was just coincidence, but I have a feeling they did help.

My dad is a chiropractor and he has successfully treated many patients with fertility problems. In fact, my mom and him were at dinner with friends several years ago, and a woman came up to him and asked "Are you Dr ___?" My dad said yes and she said, "I hear you can get me pregnant!" A little embarrassing...

It is true that nerve impulses are transmitted from your brain through your nervous system in your spine to every other area of your body - from the impulse to your lungs to take a breath, to the impulse to your reproductive organs and endocrine system, which deals with your hormones.

One suggestion I would have is to look for a Gonstead doctor if you're specifically needing help getting pregnant - my dad has had a very high success rate helping people with infertility get pregnant because Gonstead is a very specific system of adjustments. (Gonstead is a type of chiropractic technique). You'll get better results quicker with specific adjustments. That's the tip I always share with my friends when they ask for recommendations, so I thought I'd share it here in case it helps someone!

I've been to the chiropractor for a knee issue- he was also a kind of combo physical therapy/chiro- and it helped a lot.

My dad went and found out he had chipped one of his vertebrae. The doc did intensive work with him and got him fixed right up. He goes once a week or so for treatment now- and when he skips, he feels it. So it saved him from debilitating pain and back surgery.

The thing I think can be shady is when the doc wants you to come in 3 times a week for life and you're not getting better. I know lots of people that go all the time and still are in terrible pain. Why keep trying the same thing that's not working!?

As for nerve conduction to your reproductive organs, it sounds bogus to me. Most of our reproductive organs rely on hormonal signals, not nerve impulses, to function.

That said- stress can have a big impact on fertility, so if a patient relaxes and thinks it's working- it could help for that reason alone!

So, this is an interesting story that I wanted to share here. I just started going to the chiropractor last week {side note: turns out I have a curved spine and jacked up neck}. This chiropractor is more of a combo of physical therapy and chiropractic care. Anyways, they had patient orientation last night and I thought some of the info could be relevant to some TTC.

They explained that when one or more bones in your spine gets pushed out of place {like from a car accident, fall, etc.}, it pinches your nerve(s). These nerves send signals to all of our organs in our body. When a nerve it pinched, not 100% of the signal is sent to the organ(s) {including reproductive organs when that particular nerve is pinched}, so it can cause problems. They call it a subluxation.

They told the story of one particular patient who was diagnosed with infertility and tried to have a baby for 20 years. She came in at the age of 45; they did an x-ray of her spine and found some subluxations, including the one that sends signals to reproductive organs. After four weeks of treatment, she came in crying and pulled out five positive pregnancy tests.

Sorry this is so long, but I just found it to be so interesting. Do you believe in chiropractic care? I do now, and I think I will be going for the rest of my life.
