@savanarunner: Have you had a transvaginal ultrasound? That's how my RE found the endometrioma cysts.

@CatchAFallingStar: and @savanarunner: Answering both your questions at once: my surgery revealed that both tubes were blocked by endo. One tube was cleared during surgery. I got pregnant the first time I ovulated on the "right" side after my surgery. My case wasn't clear cut, so I am sooooo glad I went ahead with the lap. Without that, I'd still be TTC, instead of watching my 1 yo DD make a mess of leftover spaghetti.

@septca thank you for the information. I think we're looking at that next. Hard to make the call to go in and do it when you're not sure if they'll find anything. At this point I think it's time to just do it and rule out the lingering what-ifs.

@CatchAFallingStar: I didn't know they were there until the surgery, so I didn't have any worries. My doctor sent samples of everything they removed to pathology, which gave me a lot of information, including the type of endo I have (genetic, "turn and burn," which means it grows and dies fast, leaving a lot of scar tissue).

@savanarunner: My only cost was a $150 copay for the hospital. Recovery was okay - surgery was Tuesday and I went to a wedding Saturday without issue. My stomach was tender for about 3 weeks, but the pain only lasted 2-3 days. I only took Advil after the first day because the painkillers I had gave me headaches that were worse than the pain. I had two incisions + my belly button. Two years later you cannot see the scars at all (but both are located along my hip bone and would be covered by even a skimpy bikini). Overall, the surgery was really no big deal.

@blackbird: @septca: We're you ever scared that they could be cancer? I'm so scared and having trouble grasping that I have to wait 2 weeks for the surgery.

I had endometriosis growth on both of my ovaries that was removed during laparoscopy. Because all other tests and charting showed strong, regular ovulation, my doctor did not think that the ovary growth was related to my infertility (tubes blocked by endo were to blame), but removing the endo alleviated much of my pain.

Has anyone had "chocolate cysts" (AKA endometrioma) on your ovaries? If so, did laporoscopy help you or was there another treatment option that helped? I would love to hear your experience. Thank you so much.
