The benefit to a king would be that you'd have more floor space to move around the cribs.

we're going away this weekend, too :)

We get a king bed and I put the Pack N Play next to it, between wall and bed. Usually one side of the bed is closer to a wall than the other. I squeeze it in that side. He usually ends up in bed with us and I put him on that side so if he rolls he'll roll into the side with the PnP and won't fall.

If you can get a suite type room so you have a separate space to hang out after you put the kids down do it! I've heard horror stories from friends who had to hide in the bathroom because the kids wouldn't fall asleep with them in the room!

@Andrea: hehe yes!! well we are making our first test trip this weekend, probably just one night. Then we are doing a longer trip (staying with my bro in NJ) in February, President's Day weekend... maybe we can have a meetup?!?!? I was about to email @Mrs. Bee to see if they're available :)

We've gotten two adjoining rooms so DD had her own room with a crib, back when she was sleeping in a crib. It was great. We were free to move and make noise when she went to bed at 7 pm.

Is there any way you can request two cribs for your room?

ETA - and you are coming to NY???? :-)

On our last trip we kept our two year old on between us in the bed and the baby in the hotel crib. Worked fine although toddlers move so much in their sleep there were a lot of feet in my face. Also it's hard going back to a crib after sleeping with mom and dad! Could you get two cribs or use a crib for the toddler and the rock and play for the baby?

So we're finally making our first trip away from home this weekend and I think we're going to book a room at a hotel. I figure it will just be easier to be able to access a bathroom and a mini fridge, and I don't like the idea of inconveniencing a family with FOUR houseguests rather than three, especially one of them being a baby who will probably cry loudly at night and wake them up.

When you travel, do you book a hotel room? And if so, do you book one with two queen beds or one king bed? I can see the pros and cons of both. Since we have a toddler (who still sleeps in a crib at home) and an infant, I'm thinking a king bed with the 3 year old sleeping between us and the 6 month old in a crib next to the bed. OR we could each take a kid on the two queen sized beds, but they both roll a lot so that would mean creating barrier(s) to make sure they both don't roll off the bed. Also not sure if we should use a crib provided by the hotel or bring our pack n play, or our rock n play. (will probably bring the rock n play as a backup since it's so compact and we're driving.)

Any thoughts?? What's your sleep configuration when you travel? And if you have any family-friendly hotel suggestions around Flushing, NY let me know!!
