@Becky: I don't know what your normal routine is like when you're leaving the house, but could you put on a movie before the event while you are upstairs "getting ready" (putting together the bed) and have your parents watch the movie/get her ready downstairs? That way she leaves the house w/o going back to her room and seeing the bed. Your mom could help make up the bed/put on finishing touches, but then wouldn't have to do the construction.

@Becky: Awww that’s even better! How sweet that she’ll have that from your mom.

@SweetiePie: That’s a possibility! We could probably have my parents do it while we are at our event. My mom’s actually making the quilt for it so it could be special. Thanks!

@Becky: what about a variation of what you just said. Could you assemble large parts of it in basement and ask a family member or handy man to put it in the room and finish assembly? While you’re out or something. You could leave all bedding and everything washed and ready to go so they can put it together.
That way if you and DH are both with her it will feel even more magical, like Santa and his elves came to do it while you were gone (if you do the Santa thing).

@erinbaderin: I think I need to assemble it in her room. We’re getting this bed and I don’t think it could get through the door. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SJ0J5LI/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1511293376&sr=8-14&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=metal+white+twin+bed I realized I may have answered my own question though because I think I could assemble some of the parts in our basement in an area the kids don’t go, shoo her outside/on a run with Dad for and hour, and get everything together. Then it can be a Christmas Eve surprise when we get home.

How deeply does she sleep? If you could assemble it after she’s in bed and then move it into her room and her into it it would probably blow her mind.

We’re getting my daughter a twin bed for Christmas, and I am trying to figure out the logistics. We have an event Christmas Eve that we (us and the kids) will all be at late so it would be really hard to do it that evening. I suppose I could try to assemble it during the day and see if maybe someone could take her somewhere for an hour or something and then not let her back in until bed time. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
