This year I called in advance and said: how do you guys feel about nixing the gifts, and going out to dinner together instead. Everyone was on board, and seemed happy.<br /> I was feeling like I was just buying more stuff, for the sake of buying stuff, and didn't like it. The best gift is to get to spend some time with them, anyway! My cousins, however, are brilliant at practical gifting. I've gotten an emergency radio, superb quality thermos, a cooler for the car that folds up, memory foam bathroom mat.
