I think Christmas can get way out of control. Then it becomes really stressful. I've been stressed about finding gifts for people, disappointed when they didn't like them as much as I thought they would, stressed about coming up with my own list of gift ideas, disappointed when I didn't get the one thing I REALLY wanted, etc. It's ridiculous.</p> <p>My family is the worst. My DH describes it as "a frenzy of ripping open presents" - everyone gets everyone a million gifts and it's nuts. We have cut back a little, I try to only get my mom, dad, sister, and nephew 2-3 things each now. Might need to drop it down to 1 now, maybe 2 for my nephew. My mom has no intentions of stopping though, she's nuts and a shopaholic. I kind of dread it because she means well but she gives me a bunch of stuff I don't want/need and I feel guilty about tossing it or dumping it at goodwill.</p> <p>ETA: my sister is also super greedy at christmas (she's older than me) and a label whore. Most of the things she asks for I can't afford. One of the things on her list was a new colander.
