In the past I’ve put together gift baskets with a bottle of wine, chocolates, some nice lotions and things like that.

Our daycare has every teacher fill out a sheet with their interests, favorite stores and restaurants and things they like, etc. which is soooooooooo helpful when gift buying! One of LO’s main teachers has a parrot, which is like her baby, so I’ll put together a basket with parrot goodies in it, as well as a gift card to her favorite restaurant. For the other main teacher, I’ll put together a basket based on what her sheet says.

For the floaters/subs, I get the ones I see in LO’s room most often a small (around $10-$15) gift: something like a selection of flavored lip balms, chocolates, etc.

All the parents also donate money which is pooled by room and split between the teachers, and then a separate donation pool gets split between the floaters. They suggest a donation of $10 per teacher, and whatever you want towards the floaters.

We do american express gift cards. This year is tough because there are 4 main teachers plus 2 floaters in the toddler room, but she also JUST moved up to the 2.5 - 3.5 room so there's another 2 teachers to consider plus 2 other floaters. So that's 10 people! Yikes!

My LO goes to at in-home daycare. Do you think an extra weeks pay would be a good gift? She's amazing and ridiculously cheap so it wouldn't break the bank, but I don't know if it's appropriate.

Last year I did massage gift cards for her in home daycare providers (2 of them), this year because there are 3 (the main ones daughter helps out too now) I will probably do pedicures or manicures for the place by their house.

DD goes to a small home daycare and last year was also watched twice a week by my MIL. I can't remember what I did for Christmas, but I think I gave a gift at the end of the year. A pandora charm for her teacher, and a willow tree figurine for MIL.

I think this year since she is only at daycare full time, I will get her something special. Probably a pretty scarf and a gift card somewhere.

We have two teachers for our in-home daycare. One lady does mon-thurs and one does fridays. Last year, i gave the mon-thurs lady a gift card for a massage and baked some goodies (she's Jewish so I try not to be all CHRISTMAS but her husband is Catholic so they're really open in general). For the friday lady, i gave a smaller $25 gift card and the same treats. I think I baked a cake last year? I can't remember. This year, I'll do a nicer gift since E's been there for a whole year this year (versus half a year), I think we'll do something around $100-$150 for our Mon-Thurs lady and $50 or so for our Fri lady. They give E holiday gifts, too....and then I do starbucks gift cards+cakes for our cleaning ladies.

These are really great ideas.
Her center is brand new and there are really only three adults I'd have to purchase for. She's in the infant room and there are only three other babies with her. Do we do something from her to her classmates? As you can tell i'm new with the whole daycare etiquette thing. @Phillybaby2013: This is a good question I was wondering the same thing.

Last year I did one of those Anthropologie initial mugs with a Target gift card for the main teachers, then a smaller Starbucks gift card for the rest of the floating teachers. Usually just a gift basket to share for the front office staff. It really does add up, but we budget every year for them because they take such good care of our kids, and I know they don't get paid a whole lot for all that they do.

No LOs yet for me, but my MIL teaches in a preschool. She always appreciates gift cards more than anything. Target, Starbucks, and local boutiques are her favorites. She also enjoys getting chocolates or other pre-packaged foods, mugs or insulated cups with lids (Tervis or similar). Your LO's teachers will be so appreciative that you are thinking of them!

We usually do gift cards, but with two kids in the daycare each with 2-3 regular teachers, the float teachers that see them every day, and the two directors it really adds up! Once we did a big gift basket of things and asked to leave it in the office so everyone could grab a thing or two... but I felt kinda bad about that one. For end of the year last year I baked mini bundt cakes and got lottery scratch tickets and that seemed to go over really well.

What do you gift to your Lo's daycare providers for Christmas? We just started baby girl at daycare and really love the staff there. We were thinking about maybe a bottle of wine but not sure if bringing alcohol into the daycare would go over so well lol. Maybe a girt certificate for the wine, some nail polish and some chocolate of sorts? But then you gotta make sure the chocolate is nut fee if it's going into the daycare....right?
What are you gifting?
