Y'all have convinced me! Dh and I will make sure to box up any presents that ought to go to the hospital so that my mom or his parents can bring them by Monday night or Tuesday morning. We may decide that our presents to each other can be left at home though.

@Thehistoryofus: We call the hospital Saturday night to verify they have a bed for us, and then go in. They do a cervix softener first, then, pitocin next morning (Sunday) as needed. They said LO probably won't show up until Monday, which would mean getting out on Christmas day at the earliest, but if she turns into a c-section, we won't be out until Thursday. No progress so far, closed up tight as of yesterday.

@artbee: My mom is going to be staying at our apartment while we are in the hospital. In-laws could help take stuff to/fro as needed too.

I would! As long as you have someone to help bring them home, maybe ask your in-laws to do that?

When are you being induced on Saturday (AM/PM) and how far progressed are you? I ask because I went in at night for cervidil on a Tuesday and didn't have LO until late in the morning Thursday night.

If you go in Saturday morning and have a quick delivery you could almost be home christmas day!

Anyways, back to your question, I don't think I would have minded having presents/christmas in the hospital, but I would ask for someone to bring all the presents home. Even the few gifts we received we sent home with other family right away. When we left all we had was the suitcase, diaper bag, and car seat with baby and it still felt like we were lugging a bunch of stuff out to the car.

So it looks like we'll be in the hospital over Christmas since the plan is to induce on Saturday. I'm trying to figure out if it would be okay to plan on having our parents bring Christmas presents to the hospital or not. My mom has to leave first thing the day after Christmas, so it would be nice to be able to do the gift thing with her and the in-laws all together, just a total of 5 of us, and baby.

Any thoughts?
