We just put our tree up and we have a nearly 17 month old (it's early, I know, don't judge  ). We put all the expensive ornaments up high but there are still loads within her reach. The day we put it up (Sunday), we had to tell her about 5000 times that we just look, we don't touch, and had to be right by the tree to show her what we meant by that.. Yesterday, (Monday), she was much better and I only had to tell her not to touch occasionally....although a couple of times she did sneak an ornament off the tree and would run down the hallway chewing on it! I fully expect that today I will have to remind her not to touch the much less frequently as she is getting the message that we don't play with it.

We want her to get used to the idea that there are certain things she can't play with and that we're not going to put everything out of her reach. So far, it seems to be working....

I'm currently undecided whether to have a tree (will be fake though) but I'm so excited for xmas that I don't think I'll be able to resist :)

I will have a 15-month old on my hands and he tends to gravitate to all the shiny things {just like his mama!} so I think we're taking a pass this year.

I'm thinking of making a felt Christmas tree so he can play with it. I have family stockings for the mantle. Those will go up and we'll move his play area up a bit so he doesn't play with them.

I'm totally putting a tree up. I made a fence to put around it, though. :)

DD was 11 months old last year and we put the tree up. She was walking, but she stayed away from it. This year, I have a feeling we'll only put lights on the tree (or put ornaments on the top half) because she's a little more rambunctious.

Last yr, LO was 3 months old and we had a tree. I used to live near a tree farm when I was young, so I made my SO for the past several years find the "perfect" tree, cut it, haul it home, and clean up after it as it sheds. I love the tree smell :)

This year, I realize this isn't possible with an active and curious toddler, especially when things are still going into her mouth. We've contemplated a fake tree but I'm wondering if we should not do a tree this yr bc I'm pretty sure she's going to still want to play with it. We're also traveling Christmas week so we wouldn't even be home anyway Christmas morning.

thoughts? tree with a 15 month old is possible?
