@BelugaBean: Still good nights & bad nights. The past 2 nights have been great - 10 and 12 hours straight! And tonight has gone well so far. 3 nights ago was an absolute disaster, so I am hoping that doesn't happen again tonight...or tomorrow ;)

She is going down really well for naps still, but tends to only sleep for 1/2 hour or 45 minutes. I really wish she would nap longer!!

@bienlivingdesign: I wish I knew. We just switched LO to the crib from the Rock N Play this weekend. We're not attempting CIO just yet or may do pick up/put down instead. We had some good naps on Sunday after his Saturday night shenanigans where we couldn't calm him down from a CIO attempt. Sunday, he slept pretty well during naps, got to bed later since we had friends over, had two wakeups, and was asleep when I left this morning after our 6:30am feed.

I just laid her down for her nap & she cried for like 2.5 seconds and is asleep. What is the deal with easy naps vs. difficult nights?! Definitely trying the early feeding, then nighttime routine tonight!

@BelugaBean: go baby belugabean! That is great!!

I have been thinking about it and am going to try nursing first, then bath, book, song, bed. She doesn't eat before naps and goes down so well! Who knows :)

@bienlivingdesign: If I notice LO is falling asleep while nursing, I take her off before she falls asleep and then lay her in bed. What about trying to just switching nursing and the song? We thought about dropping nursing from her bedtime routine but she's already nursing less during the day so I don't want to get rid of too much of the bonding time it provides us.

LO is doing really well with naps though. It's like it just clicked for her this weekend. She usually doesn't cry at all now with any sleep.

@BelugaBean: I put her to bed around 7:15 or 7:30. She always falls asleep while nursing, then is mad when I wake her up to burb and put in bed drowsy. I wonder if I should have our routine be nurse -> bath -> book -> song -> bed?

Tonight was night 7 & it was just under an hour before she fell asleep :(

@bienlivingdesign: What time do you put her down at night? Does she seem to be tired earlier?

Our naps are definitely getting better but now she's sleeping all the time! I'm wondering if she's in some kind of growth spurt though. She's always tired around an hour after she gets up and sleeps for an hour to an hour and a half.

I feel like we aren't making progress at night for falling asleep. She is still crying quite a bit & seems to take the same amount of time every night. What can I do differently? Does it just take more time?

The middle of the night wakings have gotten better, though.

She falls asleep much faster for naps, I wish she would do that at night!

Her night sleep is still good. At most, she cries two to three minutes but sometimes not at all. She's waking up usually once to eat but sleeping around 6:30pm-7am with that one wake up.

Naps seem to be getting better. Today one nap took 27 minutes of crying but the second one, she didn't cry at all. She woke up after 40 minutes because she had a super dirty diaper but after we cleaned her up and put her back in her crib, she fell right asleep.

Sounds like you guys are doing great! My LOs naps at daycare have improved but aren't great, he's only getting about 1 - 1.5 hours. However, he is consistently sleeping 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. at night though.

Hadley slept for 7 hours straight last night, woke up at 3 to nurse, then slept another 3.5 hours. I was happy about that! She is still taking around 30 minutes to fall asleep at night though. I hope that gets better!

Naps have been a lot easier. The past couple of days she has fallen asleep within 10 minutes each time. I wish she would do that at night!

Also so thankful for this thread :)

Nap #3 was a bit later than I originally wanted (she's closing in on 3 hours) but maybe she just has a longer awake time in the afternoon? Her first two naps were only 30 minutes so I'm hoping this one is at least an hour. It looks like this one may have taken 7 minutes for her to fall asleep (if she stays asleep). We'd tried it two other times but she seems to be good this time. She wasn't crying as hard, mainly fussing, and she was rubbing her eyes with her head down while doing it.

@2PeasinaPod: That's not too bad! I noticed a significant improvement from the first night we actually stuck with it to the second.

I love having this thread, it definitely helps to know others are dealing with it right now and to have the support.

@BelugaBean: So glad to hear things are progressing for your nap training!

We started sleep training last night by accident. I had been rocking S for an hour and he was no closer to going down. It was 10pm already and I just needed a break from him. so I put him in his crib and sat in the rocker in his nursery and let him cry. He lasted 20 minutes before he found his thumb. Not bad at all! Until he got up at 3:20am and cried for an hour on and off. That was torture. I was about to go in at 4:20, but he had finally settled down. I felt awful for my husband. I don't know who was crying harder...me or S. So...day one of sleep training is in the books.

The good thing is, I talked to my dad today (who watches S 2 days a week) and he said he did the same thing during one of his naps the other day. He had been rocking him for almost 45 minutes, and needed to just put him down for a few. He laid him in his pack and play and let him cry for 5 minutes and he went to sleep on his own. So that made me feel a lot better that we'll have my dad's support. We both made a pact not to tell my mom (she immediately picks S up or gets extremely anxious when S cries). I'll keep you all posted on how the next few nights go.

So last night, she did fall asleep for a while without crying at 6:40pm. She fussed a bit around 1:30am but I noticed the temperature had dropped quite a bit so I turned the heat up and she fell asleep. She woke up at 4 to eat, which was the first time she's done that since we started this. Then she woke up at 7:25 for the day.

I noticed she was tired after breakfast so I figured I would put her down for a nap and stick to it (she was moving really slowly and rubbing her eyes). She cried for 19 minutes and finally fell asleep for her morning nap around 9:10 this morning. So nap #1 seems to be going okay, hopefully we can get the rest of them to go this well.

@bienlivingdesign: I'm sorry! I've been so worried about our neighbors being loud but luckily we don't share walls. They're outside running around screaming and playing, slamming car doors, playing loud music, etc at different times of the day and it makes me so paranoid.

That is great!

It is a freaking disaster here in Chicago. Our upstairs neighbors have their 2 *lovely* nephews visiting for the rest of the week and it sounds like they are going to fall through the ceiling! They are stomping around so FREAKING LOUD that it is shaking the pictures on the walls! I've already said something to them before about it, so they know how bad it is. I want to cry. Actually, I am crying a little right now, right along with Hadley who is screaming her head off! :(

So naps went well today but night sleep is still improving. She napped from about 4:25-5:05 so we started her bedtime routine around 6 since she seemed tired. I tried to nurse her but it was mostly sitting together. She was awake and squirming and I thought I'd take a shot at putting her down. She didn't cry at all.

She was wide awake when I put her down, although tired. She didn't cry at all, just rolled over and went to bed. I'm really amazed and I hope naps start to get better too.

Naps were just terrible today although I learned that my LO won't nap on me anymore at all.

She woke up at 7 this morning, took a nap from 11:55-1:15 and now just went down for her second nap. I figure if she can sleep like 4:25-5:25 then she can go back to bed around 7:30ish so I guess it's fine although we prefer her to be in bed from 6:30-7 because that seems to be her ideal bedtime.

It's been such a bad sleep day though that I'm going to let her get about an hour at least or I think tonight will be awful.

@littlek: gotcha - thanks!! We're trying to follow Ferber to a T, so we are doing the check-ins...which I obviously failed at last night because I ended up getting her out, changing her diaper (I could tell/smell that she had pooped) and nursing her. She ended up sleeping the rest of the night until we woke her up, so I am fine with that!

And every time she lays her head down, I get hopeful, but it's like she's just taking a minute to gain her strength back up to cry more. I don't know why she's having such a rough time today.

@bienlivingdesign: I let him cry for 10 minutes and then I check on him, which usually makes him madder, so I just pick him up then.
