@gotkimchi: I usually aimed to only feed him once a night since he was 2 months but when things were bad the last few weeks and he was waking 4-5x a night, I sometimes had to nurse him twice just to get him back down. Then as soon as his ped. told us he doesn't need that night feeding, we dropped it immediately along with the sleep training.

In retrospect I'm so glad she told us to do that bc we are killing two birds with one stone.

As long as your LO is eating well and at a healthy weight, I bet your ped would be ok with you dropping the MOTN feeding as well. I would ask.

Also, I EBF and never supplement and so far he hasn't had a problem without the MOTN meal and it's been 4 nights. He STTN last night as well which made 2 days in a row so we are on a roll.

@merbaby14: I'm so happy it's working for you! We're not doing checks, but I have still be feeding her if she wakes after her bedtime. Sometimes she's not really crying though and then I'll just leave her. I'd love her to drop a feeding though and I'm not sure how to go about it. How often were you feeding before cio? Then you just stopped cold turkey?

We're right there with you! Today will be day 4 and last night LO miraculously slept through the night so it seems like it's definitely working for us and LO is 4 months. I also was up every 2 hours and his ped gave us to green light to CIO and drop all MOTN feeding too. For us, night 2 was worse than night 1 so don't get discouraged if that happens to you too.

He yelled/cried for about 45 min after first putting him down nights 1&2 and over an hour around 3am then for a while again around 5am. Then all of a sudden night 3 he went down without a peep and nothing until 5:30 this morning.

Not sure if u guys were planning to do checks but we did at 5, 10, then 15 minutes of crying then that was it until he fell asleep. Rinse and repeat at next wakeup if there is one.

Good luck! You can do it! I told myself that LO was just "singing" himself to sleep :).

She cried for 20 minutes last night and I really hope tonight is shorter! She still was up to eat though. I was kind of hoping she would start sleeping through her first feeding because she wasn't eating too much - that seems to be wishful thinking though!

Hope its going well for you! It worked really well for us - LO goes down with no crying now (most of the time). It was tough for the first few nights, but you can do it!

CIO was what worked best for us. You can do it! Be strong! Honestly, once the first two nights were over, our son turned into a different kid! So much happier, playful, rested. I was much happier and rest and less irritated at everything.

I hope it works for you!

@gotkimchi: we had to CIO twice after a regression, and he longest was an hour and half. But both times it got better and then by the 4th night better. It still took her months to not cry before falling asleep, but it was a whin/cry

@gotkimchi: I think it's different for everyone but it should definitely get better within a few days. For us it was better right away but it's different for every kid and also depends on their age I think. How old is your LO? I made myself wait at least 4 hours for the next feed and she totally made it. Good luck! Good job on night 1!!!

Good luck and big hugs!

You may get lucky and she may only cry for 15-20 minutes - you just never know until you give it a shot. Do your best to stay committed if long stretches of sleep is your goal. It's hard - and I only had a few minutes of crying at a time. But like @Smurfette said it's so worth it in the end.

We're doing cio tonight because lo's sleep has been getting worse and worse. I can't function at work and the lack of sleep is making me so irritable and I don't want to be like that. It also can't be good for her. We've tried gentler methods and it's not working so I feel like this is our only option. My husband keeps saying what do we do if she cries for more then an hour etc and he's really making me feel bad. I really hope this is quick and were all feeling more rested soon. Stories or advice? How muh wine do I need?
