Have you tried the sleep lady shuffle? We were staying in the room with our son while he fell asleep, and it worked for us. Maybe start with sitting next to the bed/crib instead of snuggling and see how that goes?

@Cole: Part of the reason why she may be waking up is because she's falling asleep with you, and when she wakes up and finds you're not there, she'll start crying. Are you able to sit with her for a bit and tell her that you'll be in the room until she falls asleep. Then as she gets used to that, sit by the door while she falls asleep, then move to outside the door? Her issue is that she's anxious and wants to know that you're near, so gradually moving away a little more each night could help especially if you're looking to continue breastfeeding.

@Cole: that sounds really rough :( I know co-sleeping isn't for everyone, but it's done wonders for us. My daughter started sleeping in bed with us when she was around 2 years old. I just couldn't handle the wake-ups and the crying at bedtime anymore. It sucked that I had to go basically go to bed with her at 830PM, but honestly, I was so tired anyways, I didn't mind. She's still sleeping with us at 4.5 years old, though, so take my advice with a grain of salt ;)

Naps - I actually had to lie down with her and stay with her to get her to sleep :/ It was definitely frustrating, because there were so many other things I could have been doing, but that was the only way i could get her to sleep.

She nurses at bedtime then we rock to sleep or snuggle in her bed until she falls asleep. She typically wakes up at 10/11 then 1/2 then starting at 4 it's just a mess until about 6:30. She goes to bed at the same time every night with maybe a twenty minute swing depending on when she woke up from nap. Typically at some point I give up on the back and forth nonsense and end up in her bed because I have to wait until she's all the way asleep to leave. Nap is the same deal, she wakes up after 40-60 minutes though and I will try and nurse her back down because no nap or crazy short nap kills me and nothing else has been successful.

I'm at my wit's end. My 2 year old just sucks at sleeping. We've never done cio because she pukes within minutes and genuinely seems distraight. But I can't do this anymore, it's making me so miserable. My husband helps when he can but she screams bloody murder of it's not me. It's 100% bad habits coupled with her personality-she's an anxious child who's extremely attached to me. I don't know what to do and unfortunately a sleep consultant isn't in the cards right now. Any suggestions?
