My son was circumcised on day 2 of life. He didn't even have a behavior pattern for us to even notice a change. How old is your babe?

Newborn baby behavior changes so rapidly. I wouldn't attribute it to the circ procedure. Do whatever it takes to get him to sleep and allows you to sleep without worrying about bad habits. I promise his sleep will improve around 3 months, but change again at 4 months, and then improve, and then regress again when he starts crawling. Its just surviving one day at a time :-)

This happened with my LO right when we got home from the hospital (a few days before his circ). I second what others have said that this is normal. My husband and I were like, "Wait. This baby isn't sleeping. What's wrong with him??" but it turns out that's just what babies do.

I definitely recommend a tight swaddle (of arms, legs can be loose) - we used a Miracle Blanket. And paci, and white noise. And take shifts if possible with your husband, so maybe you get to sleep from 7pm-midnight while he takes the baby. BFing can make that harder.

Also both my LOs had a "witching hour" from about 8-11pm where they got fussy for no reason. Good times with a newborn! I would nurse and watch TV or my DH would take them out for a walk strapped to his chest. In case that happens to you in a couple weeks.

@Weswife: At this age I wouldn't be worried about developing bad habits. You can't spoil a newborn, just do what you have to do to let both of you sleep. We spent the first five weeks of both our babies lives sleeping in a recliner with the boys on our chests.

DS was fine after his circ, no real change in behavior that we thought was related. Some things that worked for us were a tight swaddle, dream feeds, and allowing him a pacifier after feeds because he was obsessed with sucking even after he was totally full. Also, some kind of white noise so he is not disturbed by your movement in the room.

That sounds like normal newborn behavior to me. The first couple days they are really sleepy. Then they wake up a bit and it's normal for them to want to eat and be held all the time.

Some things you could try...
-placing a heating pad in the bassinet about 10 minutes before laying him down and then removing it
-a tight swaddle
-something with an incline like a rock n play

Hang in there! Newborn sleep is really hard. DH and I tried so many things to get DD to sleep on her own.

My LO's behavior didn't change except during diaper changes. He slept soundly following the procedure. He was miserable during diaper changes because we used a squirt bottle to clean him up.

Lo was circumcised on Thursday so three days ago and the day of he was ok a little fussy. Starting that night is when his behavior changed! I am wondering if anyone else has had this experience and is it the circumcision or just him and how do we change it back!!! Ahhh

So he used to sleep after feedings and we could put him in the bassinet, the swing, someone else could hold him... really anything. Now after he won't stay asleep after a feeding unless mommy or daddy are holding him. And at night he won't sleep in the bassinet at all! He could be asleep and if we lay in there in about two mins... he is screaming. He will only stay asleep at night if he is laying next to me. I mean I love him near but I know it's a terrible habit! Help!!!

Is this normal behavior, are we doing something wrong? I need some advice ladies!
