We have been to the meetings before.@LaughLines: good point.@littlejoy: it would be a 3 year commitment but I don't think it's legal- unless we moved I can't imagine he would not stick to it. I think her would love it and honestly it's good for his career too.@Mrs. Champagne: totally. We live in a town with 25k residents and our district is pretty small and functions like a small town- it's the downtown walkable district.</p> <p>It's just unique in the sense that he's not actually running- more getting appointed. M is a social butterfly, so you know those meetings will take longer than they should, lol. I know he's been wanting to get involved in the community "politics" for some time, and I think he'd be perfect for it. </p> <p>Is there any kind of contractual obligation? I think part of their job is to be available to their constituents - so he would have to keep in mind that he may be doing some of that on the side, too. Probably not frequently, but it does happen. Those documents were thick! He's always been interested in CC and politics so this seems like a good chance to volunteer for our community. The commitment is 2 meetings a month- which is a lot since he travels. Luckily the meetings are usually only 1-2 hours and are walking distance. We have been in our city for 5.5 years and love our neighborhood. We are one of the fastest growing areas in the state with many big changes on the horizon. However our long term goal is to move about 2 1/2 hours away but I don't expect that to happen before his term would end.</p> <p>Have you or a spouse served? Any other considerations? </p>
