I only have one but my uppa baby has a shoulder strap so I fold up the stroller and carry dd up and down the stairs because subway elevators take way too long

I also agree with choosing your times carefully

@Baby Boy Mom: yah folding the stroller is worse than carrying it in my opinion! so we rarely take the bus or only take it when it's both of us.

@Baby Boy Mom: I only have one LO and a single stroller, but I have never folded my stroller for public transportation. I make a point to avoid rush hour, and I have taken our umbrella stroller out big UB vista and not had a problem, on the bus or train. But again, I choose my travel times carefully.

@Mama Bird: Yes there are buses but I still need to fold the stroller etc, and honestly I'm just not a big fan. I guess I don't "need" to go anywhere (most of the time anyway), but it would be nice to be able to get around to different areas.

@lamariniere: jealous!

In my city, all of the public transit is accessible: every metro station has at least one elevator, there are modern trams that have spaces for strollers and the bus also has designated areas for strollers. I :heart: the convenience. I take my 3 year old and baby out all the time. We have a single stroller with buggy board and my older LO either rides that or walks. In transit, I fold up the buggy board, but I never have to fold the stroller.

What about buses? Are there lines that are sort of reliable and will take you where you need to go?

@hilsy85: ya I'm pretty sure you have to take them off! But I will take another look and check. I think your slightly larger age difference might (hopefully) make it a bit easier. :) If there is a silver lining, I have found strangers to be surprisingly helpful when they see my set up!

@Baby Boy Mom: I know there are some buggy boards that are compatible with umbrella strollers--not sure how it works when you fold up the stroller though, I would guess you have to take it off?

@Mrs. Bee: I forgot to mention that we do have a double stroller that I've been using when we are not going too far or when I'm sure I will have elevators. But there is no way I could fold it and do all the maneuvering involved with stairs. :/ I do find it pretty limiting though since there are so few stops with elevators!

I only have 1 LO (2yrs) and when we take public transportation, I take our umbrella stroller. I try to use elevator stations only, but otherwise, I just fold up the stroller and hold his hand as he goes up and down the steps. When LO2 comes, I imagine I will baby wear until he/she is close to 1 yr, and then...I have no idea! :)

we honestly couldn't live without our double stroller. some days we walk really really far (over 8 miles this saturday), and there's no way the kids could walk that. granted we walked that far because they were napping!

we just know which subway stops have elevators and try to take those if we need to take the subway.

I've been trying to figure out how to better manage public transportation now that it's getting cooler. My 3 year old can walk some but definitely gets tired and needs the stroller. My toddler can either be in the stroller or the ergo, but he is 30 lbs so I can only carry him so long. So far I have ended up taking a stroller with buggy board and then when we go on the subway or bus I have the toddler in the ergo, preschooler holding one hand and stroller in the other (plus a backpack with all our stuff). I'm sure it looks totally ridiculous because it sure feels it! So I'm wondering how other people do it! Should I consider a double umbrella stroller or a better carrier maybe? Something else I'm not thinking of? Is this just how it's going to be?
